GODBPNYMU bt638 External Blu-ray Drive, 8-in-1 USB-C Hub & Card Reader
Product description
Choosing an external drive can be about accessing your disc library, or adding connections and card transfers to a computer setup. The GODBPNYMU bt638 combines both needs in one unit. Read and burn Blu-ray, DVD, and CD media, then use its ports and TF/SD slot for other everyday tasks.
Getting the most from it
Use the drive to read or burn BD, DVD, and CD discs for movie playback, software, music, or data backups. It supports BD-ROM, BD-R/RE, and BD-XL discs for reading, BD-XL is read-only, and Blu-ray recording supports up to 50GB on dual-layer BD-R. DVD±R/RW, including dual-layer discs, CD-R/RW, and M-Disc are also supported. Listed read and write speeds are 6x for Blu-ray, 8x for DVD, and 24x for CD.
For Blu-ray playback, install compatible third-party software, 3D Blu-ray playback is supported with suitable software and a 3D-capable display. 4K Blu-ray playback is not supported. Connect the drive to a compatible computer over USB-A or USB-C. If the drive needs additional power, the included USB-A-to-DC cable can connect to a computer USB port or a 5V/2A power adapter, that cable supplies power rather than transferring data.
What you’ll notice day to day
The built-in hub offers two USB-C ports, one USB 3.0 port, and one USB 2.0 port, while the card slot handles SD or TF cards. Connect peripherals such as a mouse or keyboard, or transfer photos and videos from a memory card to your computer. SD and TF cards cannot be read simultaneously. The drive also supports writing to SD and TF cards, bringing disc tasks and memory-card handling together in one workspace.
Buyers describe the drive as easy to connect and use, and appreciate being able to carry it for travel. They also mention its usefulness for reading and recording CDs and DVDs. If you only need disc access, a simpler drive may suit that narrower task, this 8-in-1 design is for users who also want hub ports and card-reader functions in the same setup. Its carrying pouch and four disc sleeves help keep the drive and discs together between home, office, and travel.
What to know
The drive is intended for computers, including Windows and macOS systems, laptops, desktops, and mini PCs. It is not compatible with TVs, tablets, smartphones, or in-car devices. For commercial Blu-ray or DVD playback, set the disc region code when prompted, changes are limited, so select the appropriate region carefully. Playback and burning software may need to be installed separately, depending on the task and computer.
The package includes the external drive, a carrying pouch, four disc sleeves, a USB-A-to-DC power cable, and a user manual. That combination makes it practical to keep an optical drive available even when your computer setup also needs extra peripheral connections or memory-card transfers.
Is it worth it?
A solid pick if you want more than a way to read discs: the bt638 brings Blu-ray, DVD, and CD reading and burning together with USB hub ports and an SD/TF card slot. It suits computer users who move between disc-based media or backups, peripheral connections, and memory-card files, with a pouch and protective sleeves for taking the setup along.
