HP 2-in-1 laptop, 16-inch

Key points

For work that moves between a desk, a video call, and a couch, a convertible laptop can cut down on switching devices. The HP OmniBook X Flip combines a laptop setup with a 360-degree hinge and touchscreen.

Its Intel Ultra 7 256V processor, 16GB of LPDDR5X memory, and 1TB SSD are geared toward multitasking, everyday productivity, and storing work files and media. The built-in NPU is rated at 47 TOPS, while Intel Arc 140V graphics support creative tasks and the product description also cites 1080p gaming.

The 16-inch 2K touchscreen has a stated 1920 x 1200 resolution and 400-nit brightness. It runs Windows 11 Pro and includes Copilot+ PC features, Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 6E, a backlit keyboard, and a 5MP IR camera with a privacy shutter.

Size & fit

The larger display gives you room to work across documents or keep a video call visible while taking notes. The hinge switches among laptop, tent, stand, and tablet modes, so you can prop it up for a presentation or fold it back for touchscreen reading. That flexibility is useful when one device needs to cover desk work and casual media viewing.

There is a tradeoff: at approximately 4.15 pounds, this 16-inch system is not especially light to hold for long stretches in tablet mode. Keep in mind that its size and weight make it better suited to a desk, lap, or bag than to extended one-handed use. It suits you if a spacious screen and convertible design matter more than a compact carry.

Tips for day-to-day use

Use laptop mode for typing and multitasking, then switch to stand or tent mode when joining a video call or sharing what is on screen. For a quick change of pace, tablet mode can work well for reading or touch navigation on the couch. The backlit keyboard is useful when the room is dim, and the IR camera and Windows Hello support sign-in without typing a password.

Thunderbolt 4 supports data transfers up to 40Gbps and high-resolution displays, which may be useful if your desk setup includes an external monitor. Wi-Fi 6E is included for wireless connectivity. The 65W adapter supports HP Fast Charge, but no charging time is specified, so plan around the included adapter rather than assuming a particular top-up speed.

Questions before you buy

Can you use it as a tablet? Yes. Its 360-degree hinge supports tablet mode as well as laptop, tent, and stand positions. Its weight is worth factoring in if you expect to hold it for long periods.

Is it equipped for video calls? It has a 5MP IR camera with HDR, a privacy shutter, and Poly Studio dual speakers with DTS Ultra.

Does it include ports for a monitor or fast data transfers? Thunderbolt 4 is listed for high-resolution displays and data transfers up to 40Gbps. The product details do not list other ports.

Is it worth it?

The OmniBook X Flip makes sense if you want a roomy touchscreen laptop that can also handle presentations, touch-based reading, and video calls without a separate tablet. Its memory, SSD capacity, and AI-focused processor give it a broad productivity brief, while the convertible hinge is the main reason to choose it over a conventional clamshell laptop.

You may want to skip it if portability is your top priority or you mainly need a lightweight tablet: the 16-inch screen and approximately 4.15-pound weight favor a larger, more desk-friendly setup. If you value screen space and multiple working positions more than easy one-handed handling, its design is the more relevant part of the decision.
