Microsoft Surface Laptop 13.8-inch

What matters most

If a laptop needs to handle work, school, and downtime without feeling like a desktop replacement, the Microsoft Surface Laptop’s 13.8-inch touchscreen and Snapdragon X2 Elite processor aim to cover those different jobs in one device. The display is a PixelSense LCD, and the listed configuration pairs the processor with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. That gives you room to keep files and apps on hand while moving between tasks, though the description doesn’t specify how the laptop performs with any particular demanding workload.

The maker lists up to 20 hours of battery life, but actual runtime will depend on how you use it. Copilot is built into Windows 11, and two USB-C/USB4 ports handle charging, data transfer, and desktop setups.

Fit and sizing

At 13.8 inches, this version is aimed at people who want a screen for documents, browsing, or streaming without choosing the larger 15-inch size also mentioned in the product description. The touchscreen adds a direct way to interact with content: for example, you can tap through a presentation or scroll a page while holding the laptop rather than relying only on the keyboard and trackpad. The description doesn’t provide the laptop’s weight or dimensions, so it’s not possible to judge its carry comfort from those details alone.

The Jade finish and aluminum alloy chassis give it a more distinctive look than a plain, neutral-colored laptop. Keep in mind that the listed connections are two USB-C/USB4 ports, if your everyday setup relies on other port types, you may need a different arrangement, and the product details don’t say what’s included in the box.

Tips for day-to-day use

For a typical workday, the combination of a touchscreen, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD is geared toward switching between everyday tasks and keeping files locally. The two USB-C/USB4 ports can also support a pared-down desk setup, although the description doesn’t specify display output details or list additional connections. Check that those ports fit the accessories you already use before treating it as a one-cable replacement for your current workstation.

Copilot on Windows 11 is presented as an AI companion for work, creation, and communication. That may be useful if you want AI features integrated into the operating system, but the listing doesn’t detail particular Copilot functions or explain how they work. It makes sense if you want a touchscreen laptop with a substantial SSD and are comfortable building your setup around USB-C. Not the best choice if your workflow depends on ports beyond the two USB-C/USB4 connections listed.

Practical doubts

Does it have a touchscreen? Yes. The product description identifies its 13.8-inch PixelSense display as a touchscreen.

How much memory and storage are listed? This configuration has 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD.

Is Copilot included? The laptop is described as a Windows 11 Copilot+ PC, with Copilot built into Windows 11.

Is it worth it?

This Surface Laptop is worth considering if the features you’ll actually use are clear: a 13.8-inch touch display, Snapdragon X2 Elite processing, 16GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, and Windows 11 Copilot+ features. Its appeal is a portable-size touchscreen laptop that also offers USB4 connections, rather than a more basic device with fewer stated performance and AI features. The trade-off is that the available details don’t establish real-world battery life or performance, and list only two USB-C/USB4 ports. If those connections suit your setup and you want Copilot integrated into Windows, the configuration is a plausible fit, if your accessories require other ports or you need specific performance guarantees, the listing leaves important questions unanswered.
