Coraline 826663231793 Limited Edition Steelbook 4K UHD + Blu-ray

The Limited Edition Steelbook pairs 4K Ultra HD with Blu-ray, giving viewers two listed formats in one release. It also includes a 4K restoration and a Dolby Atmos 7.1 mix, along with a substantial collection of bonus material.

Coraline follows a girl who discovers a hidden door to a version of her life that seems better at first, then turns threatening. Its stop-motion style and eerie fantasy make it a different kind of family movie than a straightforward, gentle animation.

Choose this edition if you want the film and behind-the-scenes extras in a Steelbook package. A simpler movie-only release may suit viewers who just want the story without the listed bonus content.

Who it’s for

This release is aimed at viewers who want Coraline in 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray, or who enjoy revisiting how an animated film was made. The extras include character and concept art galleries, behind-the-scenes photo galleries, feature-length storyboards, deleted scenes, original featurettes, and an art and essay mini-book. That gives fans more to explore than the feature alone.

The movie is rated PG, but its unsettling premise matters when choosing it for a family viewing. Buyer feedback often describes it as enjoyable for both children and adults, while some viewers feel its creepy moments may be too intense for younger children. A solid pick if your household enjoys spooky fantasy, it’s not for you if you’re looking for a consistently light or gentle story for young viewers.

What stands out

The story starts with Coraline feeling unhappy in her new home, then turns her discovery of an alternate world into a suspenseful choice between an alluring fantasy and her real life. The stop-motion presentation is central to the film’s appeal, and buyers frequently praise its distinctive, haunting look and picture quality. Those are audience impressions, not a guarantee of how the transfer will appear on every display.

The bonus material gives this edition extra interest for viewers curious about the production. It includes segments on discovering the characters and revisiting the puppets with LAIKA’s animation team, with rare test footage noted for the character feature. An audio commentary with director Henry Selick and composer Bruno Coulais, plus “The Making of Coraline,” adds more context than a release focused only on the movie. The package also lists an art and essay mini-book, which may appeal to fans interested in the film’s visual design.

Quick overview

The listed format is 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray, and the release includes a 4K restoration and a Dolby Atmos 7.1 mix. The runtime is 1 hour and 41 minutes, the language is English, and the rating is PG. The title identifies this as a Limited Edition Steelbook, so it combines the film formats with a special package rather than presenting itself as a standard movie-only edition.

The premise suits a movie night when viewers want imaginative animation with a darker edge. If the main priority is simply watching Coraline, the feature itself may be enough, this edition’s added appeal is its packaging and accompanying production material. The listed details do not specify equipment requirements, so choose based on the formats your setup supports.

Buying verdict

This edition makes the most sense for Coraline fans who want the Steelbook presentation, both listed video formats, and a broad set of extras in the same release. The commentary, storyboards, galleries, deleted scenes, and production features provide reasons to explore beyond a repeat viewing of the film.

Its strongest distinction is the combination of a familiar animated feature with substantial supplementary content, not a different version of the story. For households choosing a movie for younger children, the PG rating should be considered alongside the film’s eerie alternate-world plot and the mixed reactions to its intensity. If you mainly need a straightforward copy of the movie, a simpler format may be a better fit, if you value the film’s visual world and production details, this set offers more to revisit.
