SONGMICS Damion Collection LPI013B101 Indoor Small Animal Playpen with Mesh Roof

An open play area suits pets that stay low, while a covered setup can help contain animals that jump. The SONGMICS Damion Collection LPI013B101 is an indoor playpen measuring 140 x 70 x 45 cm. It has a mesh roof that can be fitted or left off, plus a water-resistant base mat. That makes it a flexible choice for supervised play and rest at home.

Benefits

The main advantage is the option to change the enclosure to suit the animal and the space. Fit the mesh roof to help prevent pets from jumping out, or leave it open when a larger open-topped area is more useful. Three doors, including access through the top, make it easier to reach pets for feeding or cleaning without dismantling the whole run.

The Oxford fabric mat has raised edges to help contain mess and protect the floor. Its water-resistant surface is intended for indoor use, and the supplied instructions say it can be wiped with a wet cloth. The mesh panels are made with steel wire, the wider construction also uses PP plastic and ABS plastic.

For a practical example, it could provide a defined area in a living room while a small pet explores or rests, with the mat underneath and the roof fitted if needed. Compared with a basic open pen, the roof and raised-edge base add useful containment and floor protection. You’ll like it if you want those features in one indoor enclosure rather than an open run alone.

Key takeaways

The rectangular playpen measures 140 x 70 x 45 cm and weighs 5.8 kg. The product name describes 20 panels, while the details specify 17 mesh panels and three doors. It is listed for small animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, chicks and ducklings. The stated guidance is for small pets only, not large or heavy animals.

Assembly is required: the panels slot into ABS connectors, then are tapped into place with the supplied mallet and secured with zip ties. The package also includes the base mat and instructions. That gives you the parts for the described setup, though you will need to assemble it before use. Not the best choice if you need an enclosure for a large or heavy animal, the product guidance specifically limits it to small pets.

Cleaning & care

The base mat can be wiped with a wet cloth. When assembling, the supplied notes say to ensure the panels are fully inserted into their connectors. The roof is optional, so you can choose a covered or open top for everyday use, depending on how you use it.

Should you buy it?

This SONGMICS playpen is worth considering if you want an indoor area with a configurable mesh roof, three access doors and a mat with raised edges. Those details make it more adaptable than an uncovered enclosure with no floor protection, while the stated size gives you a clear footprint to assess against your room. Choose it for small animals and indoor use, if your priority is a larger or heavier pet, the product’s stated guidance rules it out.
