GLORIOUS GMMK PRO GLO-GMMK-P75-RGB-W 75% Barebones Keyboard, White Ice

A CNC-machined aluminium case gives the GLORIOUS GMMK PRO a solid base for a keyboard you can tailor to your preferred typing feel. Its hot-swap design lets you change compatible mechanical switches without soldering. The 75% US QWERTY layout, RGB backlighting and volume roller bring practical controls to a customisable desk setup.

The essentials

This White Ice barebones kit is built around an aluminium case and an aluminium switch plate. The plate can be replaced with compatible alternatives from Glorious, while foam inside the case can be added or removed to adjust the sound profile. The satin-like anodised finish and replaceable top frame, rotary knob and cable make it possible to personalise the board’s appearance as well as its feel.

The hot-swap sockets accept compatible 3-pin or 5-pin MX-style mechanical switches, including options from Glorious, Kailh, Gateron and Cherry. That gives you a straightforward way to choose a switch feel that suits typing or gaming, and to change it later without soldering. A switch puller is included to help with swaps, the kit also comes with a braided coiled cable and keycap puller.

It connects by USB-C and is powered by a cable. The keyboard measures 33.2L x 13.5W x 3.2H centimetres, with RGB backlighting and a volume roller for quick lighting and audio control at your desk. Its US QWERTY layout is worth bearing in mind when choosing a keyboard to match your typing habits. It is listed as compatible with laptops and PCs, with support for Windows 10 and Mac OS 10.12 Sierra.

Usage tips

Think of the GMMK PRO as a starting point for a personalised mechanical keyboard rather than a fixed configuration. Choose compatible MX-style switches to shape the keystroke feel, then use the replaceable plate options and removable or addable case foam to adjust the board’s feel and acoustic profile. For example, the available brass plate is described as producing a firmer feel and brighter sound, while the polycarbonate option is described as softer with a deeper sound. These changes let you focus on the character you want from your desk setup.

The US QWERTY layout is suited to people who specifically want that key arrangement. At a gaming or work desk, the 75% format keeps the keyboard’s controls in a compact layout, while the volume roller offers an easy-to-reach adjustment during use. RGB lighting adds a configurable visual feature, and the USB-C wired connection keeps the setup straightforward for a compatible PC or laptop.

Everyday use

For a setup shared between gaming and everyday computer use, the useful detail is how the controls and customisation work together: use the roller for volume, select switches to suit your preferred typing feel, and adjust the lighting to your desk. The aluminium construction and plate provide a substantial foundation, while the replaceable frame and rotary knob give the board room to evolve with your setup.

Buyer feedback is positive about the appearance, tactile feel and build, with some also appreciating the side RGB lighting. Opinions are mixed on overall quality and the lighting, and some buyers report sticking stabilisers or reliability issues such as repeated disconnections. These are useful points to weigh alongside the keyboard’s clear appeal for people who value a customisable barebones design.

Buying verdict

The GMMK PRO is a considered choice for anyone who wants more say in the switches, feel and sound of a mechanical keyboard than a fixed, ready-made configuration allows. Its aluminium case, hot-swap sockets, replaceable plate options and adjustable case foam give you several practical ways to shape the result, while the White Ice finish, RGB lighting and volume roller bring distinctive details to the desk. Choose it for a wired US QWERTY setup that puts customisation at the centre.
