Ultimate Ears Boom 4 984-002009 Portable Bluetooth Speaker, Lilac, 360° Sound
Product description
Some listening setups call for a speaker that stays in one spot, others need music that can move from the kitchen to the patio or away on a trip. The Ultimate Ears Boom 4 brings portable Bluetooth playback, balanced 360-degree sound and a waterproof design together in a lilac finish, so music can follow the day instead of being tied to a single room.
Its rechargeable battery is rated for up to 15 hours of playback, and Bluetooth range extends up to 45 metres (147 feet). Whether you’re hosting outdoors or listening around the house, wouldn’t it be useful to keep the music going as you move around?
Getting the most from it
The Boom 4 spreads sound in 360 degrees, making it well suited to a table or gathering where people are listening from different sides. Clear audio and bass give playlists a full, balanced presentation in a compact speaker that’s easy to bring along. Its waterproof, floating design adds practical flexibility near water, while the dustproof and shockproof features suit outdoor use and travel.
For a quick change of track, use the Magic Button to play, pause or skip music. The Ultimate Ears app also offers four preset EQ modes—Bass Boost, Cramped Spaces, Deep Relaxation and Podcast/Vocal—and lets you customize the EQ. PartyUp in the app can link multiple compatible BOOM, MEGABOOM, EVERBOOM, EPICBOOM and HYPERBOOM speakers for shared playback, WONDERBOOM and MINIROLL are not compatible with PartyUp. One-touch playlists can be set up for Spotify, amazon Music on Android or Apple Music on iOS.

Pros
The combination of portable size, broad 360-degree sound and waterproof construction makes the Boom 4 useful in more places than a stationary home speaker. Take it along for a weekend gathering, set it on a patio table, or move it between rooms without changing how you listen. The 45-metre Bluetooth range gives room to move away from the speaker while keeping a connected device nearby, and app-based EQ presets make it easy to shape playback for music or spoken audio.
Buyers often praise the sound, including its bass-forward character, and describe the controls as easy to use. Feedback on battery life, reliability and connectivity is mixed, so those themes are worth keeping in mind when choosing a speaker for a particular routine.
When it makes sense
It suits you if you want one portable speaker for music at home, while travelling or at an outdoor gathering, with waterproof construction for use around water and 360-degree playback for a shared listening area. Compared with a speaker intended to stay in one fixed spot, the Boom 4 puts portability, app controls and the option to connect compatible Ultimate Ears speakers at the centre of the experience. Its lilac colour adds a distinctive finish, while the rechargeable battery and Magic Button keep everyday listening straightforward.
