soundcore by Anker Boom 3i D5100 Portable Speaker, 50W, IP68, BassUp 2.0

The green soundcore Boom 3i is a portable speaker designed for outdoor and water-related activities. Its floating playback design keeps it upright and sound-forward on the water, making it a natural fit for kayaking, poolside listening and boat trips.

With 50W output, BassUp 2.0 and a stated low-frequency response of 56Hz, it brings a bass-focused sound to an easy-to-carry format. Bluetooth 5.3 connects it to a compatible phone or other Bluetooth device.

IP68 waterproof and dustproof protection, plus stated saltwater resistance, suit days when a speaker may encounter spray, sand or splashes. A detachable strap adds a practical way to carry or secure it as you move.

What you’ll notice day to day

The Boom 3i is built around use beyond the living room. Its floating design is intended to keep playback upright on the water, so music can stay directed outward during a kayak outing or at a pool gathering. The IP68 rating and saltwater-resistant construction also make it more purpose-built for these settings than a conventional indoor speaker.

BassUp 2.0 and 50W output give the speaker a sound profile focused on punchy low notes and clear highs. Use Bluetooth to play music from a compatible device, then manage settings through the app or use the speaker’s buttons. The stated Bluetooth range is 100 metres. For wider sound, stereo pairing lets you connect it with another compatible speaker.

Key takeaways

The Boom 3i combines outdoor-focused protection with features for different situations. Its IP68 waterproof and dustproof rating supports use around water and dust, while saltwater resistance is intended for exposure to sea spray and similar conditions. It is drop-tested from 3.28 ft (1 m), according to the product details.

The speaker offers up to 16 hours of playtime and includes an LED light, Voice Amplifier, Emergency Alarm and Buzz Clean feature. These additions give it more uses than music playback alone, whether it is accompanying a campsite, a day by the water or outdoor activities where a hands-free carry option is useful. Customer feedback often praises the sound, bass, portability and connectivity, views on battery life and durability are mixed.

Everyday use

For a day of fishing or paddling, pair the speaker with a Bluetooth device before heading out and use the detachable strap to carry it. Its floating design is made for water-based playback, while the waterproof and dustproof construction suits outdoor settings. At home, it can also serve as a portable Bluetooth speaker when you want music in another room or a stereo pair for a broader listening setup.

This is a different approach from choosing a speaker mainly for a fixed indoor setup: the Boom 3i puts water-ready design, portability and outdoor functions at the centre. Its green finish and compact portable format suit taking music along rather than leaving the speaker in one place.

Is it worth it?

It makes sense if you want a portable speaker for kayaking, poolside listening, fishing or camping, and value features designed for water and outdoor use. Floating playback, IP68 protection, saltwater resistance and a detachable strap address the practical demands of taking music along. BassUp 2.0, 50W output and Bluetooth connectivity round out the listening experience, while the app, LED light and built-in alert functions add everyday versatility. For outdoor plans where a standard indoor speaker is not the right fit, the Boom 3i brings sound and water-focused design together in one portable unit.
