The Watch: Season One Blu-ray, 2-Disc Fantasy Series

Comedy and fantasy come together in The Watch: Season One, where an unlikely group of misfits takes on a threat to the world. Trolls, werewolves, wizards and other improbable heroes make up the City Watch, facing an evil plan to bring back a great dragon. The Blu-ray edition presents the season across two discs, with a listed runtime of six hours.

This is an ensemble adventure with an offbeat comic streak: a fit for viewers after a fantastical world and quirky characters, rather than a more grounded, straight-faced drama. Its mix of danger and humour gives a home viewing session both a larger fantasy plot and lighter moments along the way.

What you’ll notice day to day

The story centres on a group of unlikely heroes who must find the courage to prevent the dragon’s return. That setup gives the series room for both fantastical encounters and character-led comedy, with trolls, werewolves and wizards sharing the adventure. It offers a different mood from a conventional, serious fantasy drama: the premise is high-stakes, but the tone is comedic and playful.

Viewers who enjoy eccentric fantasy ensembles may appreciate the series’ unusual cast and humour. Buyer feedback often highlights its entertaining, witty side, while reactions to the story and character development are more mixed. That makes this a useful pick when the appeal is the distinctive world and comic energy, rather than a familiar, tightly conventional fantasy plot.
