Compatibility & requirements
Use the ES3 with compatible laptops, Macs, PCs, Android mobile devices, cameras and gaming consoles. Supported console models include PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The drive is also identified as compatible with the iPhone 15 series. For a device to access the drive’s storage, it must support external storage above 32GB.
The maximum stated transfer speeds require a host device and cable that support USB 3.2 Gen 2 or higher. With another USB connection, transfer speed can be lower. Actual performance also depends on the host device, so check the connection available on the device you plan to use.
How to use it
Connect the drive to a compatible device with the Type-C cable, then use the device’s storage tools to access files or manage the drive. It can serve as portable space for personal documents, multimedia and gaming files, or as a way to carry data between compatible devices. For a computer-to-computer workflow, keep the drive handy with the files you need to move, for console use, connect it to a supported model and follow that console’s storage prompts.
The ES3 also includes Lexar DataShield software with 256-bit AES encryption for protecting files. If you plan to use the drive across several devices, choose a file setup that works with those devices before transferring important data. Usable capacity can vary, and devices that do not support external storage above 32GB may limit the drive to 32GB. On a computer, the full capacity can be restored by deleting the existing partition and creating a full partition in Disk Management.
Before you decide
What transfer speeds can I expect? The drive is rated for reads up to 1,050MB/s and writes up to 1,000MB/s. Reaching the stated speeds requires USB 3.2 Gen 2 or higher support from both the host device and cable, other connections can reduce transfer speed.

Does it include file protection? Yes. Lexar DataShield software with 256-bit AES encryption is included for protecting files stored on the drive.
