SKB 3I-2217-8B-C Mixer Case with Cubed Foam, Waterproof Hard Shell
Product description
How to use it
For musicians and audio professionals who need a protective case for a mixer, the SKB 3I-2217-8B-C combines a rigid shell with a cubed-foam interior. Its 22" x 17" x 8" footprint gives you a defined space for organizing and transporting compatible gear.
Place the mixer inside the foam-lined compartment, then close the case using its push-lock closure. The swivel handle supports carrying, while the automatic ambient pressure equalization valve helps balance pressure as conditions change.
The gasket-sealed case is designed to be waterproof, making it a practical choice for keeping equipment protected during storage and travel. Its polypropylene copolymer resin shell is also resistant to UV, solvents, corrosion, and fungus.

Why it’s worth it
A soft-sided mixer bag can suit musicians who prioritize a flexible, lightweight carrying format. This case takes a more protective approach: its hard shell, gasket seal, and foam interior create a dedicated enclosure for audio equipment. The combination is useful when a mixer needs to travel with other gear or stay stored between sessions, rather than being carried loose or placed in a general-purpose bag.
The cubed-foam configuration is made for equipment storage, while the single-compartment layout keeps the case straightforward to pack. Its stated capacity of 2,736 cubic inches and compact exterior dimensions help you assess whether the case suits the equipment you plan to carry. The molded construction adds practical protection against environmental exposure, and the pressure-equalization valve supports changes in ambient pressure without requiring a separate adjustment during ordinary handling.
For a traveling musician, this setup can keep a mixer enclosed between venues and make it easier to move the same protected case from transport to storage. It is also suitable for keeping audio equipment together when it is not in use. The hard-shell format, rather than a soft cover alone, is the defining choice for buyers who want a sealed case with a foam-lined interior.
Before you decide
What type of equipment is this case designed to carry? It is identified as a mixer case, and the product description also describes the iSeries range for audio and music equipment. Check your mixer’s dimensions against the case’s 22" x 17" x 8" measurements to assess fit.
What does the cubed-foam interior provide? The case has a cubed-foam interior in its single compartment, giving audio equipment a foam-lined space for storage and transport.
Is the case designed to resist water exposure? Yes. It has a complete gasket seal and is described as waterproof and watertight. It also includes an automatic ambient pressure equalization valve.
Final verdict
