Beats Bluetooth Speaker with 24-Hour Battery Life

Technical details

For music that needs to move from the kitchen to the backyard, the Beats Pill is a portable Bluetooth speaker built around a rechargeable battery and a water- and dust-resistant design. Its matte black finish and removable lanyard also make it easier to carry when you head out.

The redesigned woofer is rated to displace more air than the previous Beats Pill, with output up to 69 watts. Beats says the tweeter handles crisp highs and midrange while the woofer design helps limit bass distortion at higher volume. Those are useful details if you want a speaker with more presence than a small phone speaker, though the listing doesn’t give dimensions or weight to help judge how it will fit in a bag.

Battery life is listed at up to 24 hours, and the USB-C port can also power a phone or another device. The same connection supports high-resolution lossless audio from a laptop or compatible device. IP67-rated dust and water resistance is intended for outdoor use, but the listing doesn’t spell out specific water-use conditions. On the spec sheet, that makes it a more travel-ready choice than a speaker meant to stay on a desk, without removing the need for sensible care around water.

Everyday compatibility

Bluetooth lets you play audio wirelessly from Apple and Android devices, while USB-C offers a wired option with compatible equipment. The controls sit on top: Center, Plus, and Minus buttons handle playback, calls, and volume, so basic adjustments don’t require reaching for your phone.

A practical use case is setting the Pill on a patio table, keeping your phone nearby, and changing volume from the speaker as people move around. The removable lanyard is handy when carrying it between spots. If you want separate left and right channels, you’ll need a second Beats Pill for Stereo mode, Amplify mode also pairs two speakers, but is described as doubling the audio experience rather than creating dedicated channels.

It suits you if portability, long listed battery life, and phone-friendly controls matter more than a detailed size or weight comparison. You may want to skip it if you need stereo sound from one speaker alone, or if you’re choosing primarily by a specified charging time, since that information isn’t provided.

Usage tips

Use Bluetooth for everyday playback, then connect through USB-C when using a compatible laptop or device for lossless audio. The built-in controls are useful when your phone is tucked away, and the speaker’s power-bank function can help top up a phone when an outlet isn’t close. That does mean speaker playback and charging another device share the Pill’s battery, so the listed maximum runtime shouldn’t be treated as a guaranteed figure for every outing.

For a wider listening setup, pair two speakers and choose Amplify or Stereo according to whether you want doubled audio or dedicated left and right channels. If you only plan to carry one unit, its own Bluetooth playback and controls remain the simpler setup.

Practical doubts

Can it charge a phone? Yes. The Beats Pill can act as a USB-C power bank for a phone or other device.

Does it work with Apple and Android devices? The listing identifies compatibility with both, including Bluetooth playback.

Can one Pill provide left and right stereo channels? The listing describes Stereo mode as pairing two Beats Pill speakers for dedicated left and right channels.

Final verdict

The Beats Pill makes sense if you want one portable speaker for home and outdoor listening, with Bluetooth, USB-C audio, up to 24 hours of listed battery life, and IP67-rated dust and water resistance. Its top-mounted controls and power-bank function add practical flexibility. The clearest trade-off is that dedicated stereo requires buying or already owning a second speaker, if that’s central to your setup, plan for two rather than expecting one Pill to create separate channels.
