Who it’s for
This set is designed for kids ages 4–12 who want to communicate while playing outside, exploring the backyard, or joining family outings. The two radios provide a ready-made pair for a child and a playmate, sibling, or adult to stay in contact. Instead of relying on a phone-based way to communicate, children can use a dedicated handheld radio with simple channel controls.
The 22 channels and 121 CTCSS/DCS codes give families options for setting up a channel and code combination. These codes help distinguish the selected channel from unfamiliar signals, while the keypad lock helps prevent accidental changes to the volume, menu, or channel during play. Each unit uses three AA batteries, and the pair requires six in total.
Best use cases
VOX enables voice-activated transmission, so children can speak without pressing a talk button. That hands-free operation is useful when they are busy cycling, climbing, or carrying out a treasure hunt. A belt clip lets each radio attach to a belt, backpack, or pocket, keeping it close by as kids move between play areas.
For camping, hiking, backyard adventures, or trick-or-treating, the pair offers a straightforward way to check in and coordinate with someone nearby. The listed maximum talking range is 1 km. The lightweight design and ABS+PC polymer construction suit active use, while the lock helps keep settings in place as the radios are carried around.
