Petinstinct 22x30 Inch Grey Cat Litter Mat, Double-Layer Honeycomb, Waterproof

For indoor-cat households trying to contain litter around the box, the Petinstinct mat pairs a honeycomb surface with a waterproof lower layer. Its listed size is 30x22 inches, giving scattered litter a designated area to land.

The double-layer design is intended to catch litter from paws and hold it between layers. The gray mat is made from EVA, with a soft surface and a nonslip underside.

After use, collected litter can be tipped back into the litter box, and the mat can be rinsed or vacuumed for cleanup. Does that layered approach fit your cleanup routine better than a basic flat mat?

Best use cases

This mat is designed for indoor use around a cat litter box and is described as suitable for all cat breeds and litter types, including clay, crystal, pine, paper, and other listed options. In a practical setup, place it where your cat steps out of the box so loose granules can fall onto the honeycomb surface rather than directly onto the surrounding floor. The size may also be useful when you want more coverage than a small mat provides, though the listed footprint should be compared with the available floor space.

Compared with a simple surface mat, the two-layer construction is intended to collect litter between layers for emptying. If your priority is only a small landing pad beside the box, a more compact mat may take up less room. You’ll appreciate it if you want a reusable catch area that can be emptied and rinsed rather than discarded.

What stands out

The honeycomb surface and lower layer give the mat a specific job: catching loose litter and making it easier to return that material to the box. The waterproof base and sealed edges are intended to help protect the floor from liquid, while grip dots underneath are designed to limit shifting. Its soft surface is another consideration for cats that step onto the mat after using the box. The product description also says the EVA material is designed to withstand everyday scratching, but that is not a guarantee of long-term durability.

Buyer feedback is generally positive about litter containment and ease of cleaning, with some people noting that they can rinse the mat or empty it back into the box. Impressions of size are mixed: some find the coverage ample, while others say it is smaller than expected. Durability feedback is mixed as well, so expectations around wear may vary. It might not be a great match if you need a footprint that all users agree feels large or a mat with uniformly reported durability.

Should you buy it?

The Petinstinct mat is worth considering if you want a washable, double-layer litter catcher with a waterproof base and a stated 30x22-inch footprint. It brings together collection, emptying, and rinsing in one reusable surface, rather than relying on a basic mat that only provides a place for stray litter to land. Its mix of features is most relevant when the area around the box needs regular cleanup.

Before choosing it, compare the stated size with the space around your litter box and consider the mixed buyer impressions on size and durability. If those tradeoffs suit your setup, its layered design offers a practical way to collect scattered litter and handle cleanup without adding a separate tool.
