Panasonic KX-TGF852B Corded/Cordless Phone System, 2 Handsets, Call Blocking

The Panasonic KX-TGF852B pairs a corded base with two cordless handsets, giving you a home phone at the main station and portable handsets for other rooms. Its call-blocking tools, call recording, and tilting 3.4-inch LCD make everyday calling easier to manage.

The system can expand to support up to six handsets, with additional handsets sold separately. Use the base’s one-touch dialing for frequently called numbers and its large red button to block unwanted calls.

Why it’s worth it

A corded base and cordless handsets offer two ways to take calls in one system. Keep the base phone at a desk or central spot, then place the cordless handsets where they’re useful around the home or office. That layout is a practical alternative to relying on a single phone location or setting up a cordless-only system.

Call management is a standout benefit. Automated Call Block can pre-block robocalls, while Telemarketing Call Block lets you block announced callers. The one-touch Call Block button can add up to 1,000 more numbers to the blocked list. If an important conversation needs to be revisited, 2-way recording lets you record calls, with a dedicated Recording Start button.

The base has a tilting 3.4-inch LCD for viewing caller information, plus one-touch dial buttons. Talking Caller ID announces callers in English or Spanish. For hands-free conversations, the full-duplex speakerphone lets you talk without holding the handset, and the system can answer calls by voice command.

Key points

The two included cordless handsets make it easier to answer calls away from the base, while the corded handset provides a fixed option at the main station. Expand the setup to as many as six handsets by adding compatible handsets sold separately. The system supports three-way conference calls and offers up to 12 hours of talk time and 7 days of standby time. Its digital answering system has a recording capacity of 17 minutes.

A phonebook that stores up to 3,000 contacts helps keep frequently used numbers together for quick dialing. For a typical home setup, you could place the base near a household workspace and keep a cordless handset in another room, using caller announcements and call blocking to manage incoming calls without heading back to the base each time.

Buyers often highlight the system’s call-blocking features, button size, and reliability. Feedback on sound quality and battery life is mixed, so individual experiences vary. The call-blocking controls and choice of corded or cordless calling are the clearest practical reasons to consider this model.

Tips for day-to-day use

Use the base’s one-touch dial buttons for frequently called contacts, and the large call-block button when you want to add a number to the blocked list. For conversations that need a hands-free setup, switch to the full-duplex speakerphone, for a record of an important call, use the Recording Start button. The expandable design also lets you add handsets as your preferred phone locations change, up to the system’s six-handset capacity.

Final verdict

The KX-TGF852B is suited to homes and small workspaces that want a corded phone at the base alongside cordless handsets, rather than choosing only one format. Call blocking, 2-way recording, a large tilting display, and room to expand give it practical value for households that handle frequent calls and want more control over how they answer them.
