Lenovo ThinkBook 16 Gen 8 Laptop

If you mainly work with documents, calls, and a crowded set of apps, a larger screen and generous memory can be more useful than a smaller, lighter laptop. The ThinkBook 16 Gen 8 pairs a 16-inch display with 32GB of DDR5 memory and a 1TB SSD, so it is built around workspace and multitasking rather than a compact footprint. Its Intel Core Ultra 7 255H processor and Windows 11 Pro also make it relevant for business workflows. The trade-off is that the listed display brightness is 300 nits, and no battery-life figure is provided.

Size & fit

The 16-inch WUXGA IPS display has a 1920 × 1200 resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio, giving you more vertical room than a standard 16:9 screen. That can help when you have a spreadsheet open beside a document or need to see more lines in a long report without scrolling as often. The anti-glare coating is a practical touch for office lighting, though 300 nits is a specific brightness limit to keep in mind if you often work in bright surroundings.

At 3.75 pounds and 0.69 inches thick, this is still a laptop you can carry, but it is not the space-saving choice for someone who prioritizes the smallest possible bag. A 1080p camera with a privacy shutter adds a useful detail for video calls. Worth considering if your day involves desk work, meetings, and switching among several applications, It may not suit you if portability or a brighter screen matters more than the larger workspace.

Pros

• 32GB of DDR5 memory and a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD provide room for multitasking and storing sizeable work files.
• The Core Ultra 7 255H includes an Intel AI Boost NPU, while Intel Arc 140T graphics are listed for creative workflows such as video editing and CAD. Those capabilities may be useful, but they do not replace checking the requirements of demanding software.
• Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, USB-A and USB-C ports, Gigabit Ethernet, an SD card reader, and an audio jack give you several wired connection options.
• Windows 11 Pro, TPM 2.0, BitLocker, and a fingerprint reader integrated into the power button address business security needs.

For a typical work session, you could connect a monitor over HDMI, keep a video meeting open, and move between a spreadsheet and project files without relying on a minimal-port design. How much of that connectivity will matter if most of your work happens on the go? The answer depends on whether you regularly use wired accessories and external displays.

Should you buy it?

Choose this ThinkBook if a roomy 16-inch screen, substantial memory, and built-in business security are central to your work, especially if you make use of its mix of ports. From the way it is set up, it favors a practical office workstation feel over an ultra-portable design. A simpler, smaller laptop may make more sense for frequent travel, while a brighter-screen option deserves a look if you work in strong ambient light. The listing does not give battery runtime, so that is an important unknown if you need to work away from an outlet for long stretches.
