HP 17-inch laptop with 17.3-inch display

Quick overview

When a larger screen matters more than a compact footprint, this HP 17-inch laptop is built for a desk, home office, or study space. Its 17.3-inch FHD IPS anti-glare display, 32GB of DDR4 memory, and 1TB SSD give everyday work, browsing, and streaming room to breathe, while Windows 11 Pro and the Ryzen 5 7430U target general productivity rather than specialized graphics work.

The numeric keypad and range of built-in ports also make it easier to use as a main computer without adding a separate keyboard or relying on adapters for every connection.

Best use cases

This configuration makes sense for documents, web research, video calls, and switching among everyday apps. For example, you could keep a spreadsheet open beside a browser during a study session, then use the same wide screen for a video call. The 1920 x 1080 resolution, IPS panel, and anti-glare finish are practical for mixed work and entertainment, brightness is rated at 300 nits, with 45% NTSC color coverage.

It suits you if you want a large-screen Windows laptop with generous memory and storage for business or study tasks. The six-core Ryzen 5 processor, AMD Radeon Graphics, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.4 cover the essentials described here. If your priority is carrying a laptop around all day, its 4.58-pound weight and 17.3-inch size are worth factoring in. You may want to skip it if your main goal is color-critical creative work or more demanding graphics performance, the listed display coverage and integrated Radeon graphics point to a more everyday-use setup.

Tips for day-to-day use

The full-size soft gray keyboard includes a numeric keypad, useful for entering figures, while the lift-hinge design and HP Imagepad provide the built-in controls. For calls, the 720p HP True Vision camera has a privacy shutter and temporal noise reduction, dual-array microphones and stereo speakers are also included. Keep in mind that the camera is specified at 720p, so buyers who need a higher-resolution video setup may prefer to use a separate camera.

There are two USB Type-A ports, one USB Type-C port, HDMI 1.4b, and a headphone/microphone combo jack. That gives you options for connecting common accessories and an external display. The 41Wh battery is listed for up to 9 hours of video playback, and HP Fast Charge is included, but the stated playback figure is not a promise of the same runtime during every workday.

Buying verdict

This HP is a sensible fit when you want a roomy screen, a numeric keypad, and substantial listed memory and SSD storage in one Windows laptop for work or study. Its strongest case is everyday productivity at a desk, with Wi-Fi 6, several ports, and a privacy shutter adding practical touches. Choose a smaller machine if easy portability comes first, or look at a system intended for more graphics-intensive work if that is your main use. The display's 45% NTSC coverage and 720p camera are the specific trade-offs to weigh before buying.
