HP 14-inch laptop

How to use it

If you need one computer for classwork, email, browsing, and video calls, choosing a basic laptop can mean giving up useful ports or bundled productivity software. This HP pairs Windows 11 Home with a 14-inch screen and a one-year Microsoft 365 Personal subscription.

Picture a study session with a document open, a browser tab for research, and a video call starting next. The Intel N150 processor is aimed at everyday tasks like these, rather than demanding workloads.

The 128GB UFS storage is paired with a 500GB HDD, and the product name also lists 1TB of cloud storage. That gives you more places to keep files than a small internal drive alone, though 4GB of memory is a notable constraint when juggling lots of open apps.

Pros

• Windows 11 Home, Copilot, and a one-year Microsoft 365 Personal subscription with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneDrive make it ready for common school and office tasks.
• Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, HDMI, USB-C with DisplayPort, two USB-A ports, an SD card reader, and a headphone/microphone jack offer practical connection options.
• The 720p camera, dual-array microphone, and AI noise reduction are useful for online classes and meetings. The listed battery life is up to 11 hours of video playback, a specific test-use claim rather than a guarantee for every workload.
• At 3.24 lbs with a 0.71-inch profile, it is described as lightweight and slim, the 14-inch anti-glare display is a manageable size for a desk or bag.

The trade-off is the display: it is HD, rated at 250 nits and 62.5% sRGB. What does that mean in daily use? It should cover documents and streaming, but it is a less compelling fit if sharp detail or color-focused work is a priority. The 4GB RAM also makes this a more basic multitasking setup than a laptop with more memory.

Should you buy it?

You’ll appreciate it if you want a Windows laptop for documents, online learning, browsing, and calls, with Microsoft 365 included for a year and several built-in connection options. Compared with a stripped-down device focused mainly on web use, this setup offers Windows software, HDMI, and multiple USB connections, a more demanding workload calls for a configuration with more memory and a stronger display. It may not suit you if you regularly keep many applications open or need a higher-resolution screen for detailed work. Without having tried it, the listed specs suggest a practical everyday computer, but the 4GB RAM and HD panel are the details to weigh before choosing it.
