GODBPNYMU YP01 500GB Portable External Hard Drive with USB 3.0/USB-C
Product description
At 2.5 inches, the GODBPNYMU YP01 is a compact mechanical hard drive with 500GB of storage in a black ABS enclosure. USB 3.0 and USB-C connectivity, a plug-and-play setup, and an included carrying pouch make it suited to moving personal files between compatible devices or keeping a portable backup close at hand.
Its capacity can hold everyday documents, photos, videos, and game files, though the space displayed after formatting may be about 450–475GB depending on the operating system and file system. The drive is a practical fit for portable storage needs, it is not a way to run native PS5 or Xbox Series X|S games from an external drive.

The listed 5Gbps figure is the interface data rate, not a guarantee of a particular file-transfer speed. Actual transfers can vary with the connected device, files, and setup. Password protection is listed as a feature, but the supplied details do not explain how it is configured. For the stated capacity, this model makes sense for a portable collection or routine file copies, shoppers building a much larger archive may prefer to compare higher-capacity drives instead.
Everyday compatibility
The product is listed for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Chrome OS devices, including laptops, desktops, and MacBooks. It is also listed for PS4 and Xbox consoles, as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. For current-generation consoles, the key distinction is what the drive can do: it can store and run supported PS4 or Xbox One games, but native PS5 and Xbox Series X|S games cannot be played directly from this external hard drive. Moving older games to it can still free internal console space.
It makes sense if you want a portable place for computer files or older console games, and the pouch is useful for carrying the drive in a bag. Buyer feedback praises portability and transfer performance, while reports on reliability and device recognition are mixed. Some buyers also mention PS5 game compatibility concerns, which aligns with the stated restriction on running native PS5 titles. If you plan to use it with a phone, Android access depends on USB-C and OTG support, an iPhone Lightning adapter is not included.
Tips for day-to-day use
For a laptop backup, connect the drive with the included cable and copy the folders you want to keep separate from the computer. The manufacturer says it typically comes formatted as exFAT for Windows and macOS use, but a Mac Time Machine setup may require reformatting. Reformatting can erase data, so save anything you need before changing the drive’s format.
Use the computer’s safe-removal or eject option before unplugging to reduce the risk of data corruption. With a console, avoid cutting power while the drive is reading or writing. These habits matter whether the drive stays at a desk or travels between home, school, and work.
Buying verdict
The YP01 is worth considering when you want a compact 500GB mechanical drive for personal files, backups, or supported older console games, with USB 3.0/USB-C connectivity and a pouch included. You may want to skip it if your main goal is to play native PS5 or Xbox Series X|S games from external storage, or if you need more room than 500GB provides. The stated dimensions and mixed buyer reports on recognition make it sensible to match the drive to your device and intended use before relying on it as your only copy of important files.
