FDW Dog Crate 18-Inch Foldable Metal Kennel with Leak-Proof Tray, Black

A crate that stays set up at home serves a different need from one that can fold away between trips. The FDW Dog Crate is designed for small dogs and works for indoor or outdoor use. Its foldable wire frame, carrying handle, and removable tray make it practical for training, everyday use, and travel.

Why it makes sense

At 18 x 12 x 14 inches, this black metal crate offers a defined space for a small dog without being a bulky, fixed setup. Use it at home as a training space, or fold it down when you need to store it or take it along. The single door opens and closes with dual latches, while the metal frame has an epoxy coating described as resistant to rust, corrosion, and fading. Rounded edges help avoid sharp metal contact.

The setup is straightforward: unfold the crate without tools. When it is time to move or store it, the frame folds to a package less than 3 inches thick. Its removable carrying handle can be mounted on any side, so you can position it for the way you plan to carry the crate.

Key points

A leak-proof ABS composite tray catches messes beneath the crate. Its raised perimeter lip helps contain spills, and the tray slides out for cleaning without opening the door. The metal-and-plastic construction balances a wire enclosure with a separate, removable base, the crate weighs 5 pounds, which is useful when portability is part of the plan.

Buyers often praise the straightforward assembly and construction, while feedback about sturdiness is mixed. Some report that the crate feels sturdy, while others describe bending or durability concerns, some also find the door latches difficult to operate. The built-in dual latches provide the stated closure, and buyers’ experiences can help set expectations for daily handling.

For a practical home routine, place the crate in a suitable spot, unfold it, and use the tray beneath the wire enclosure to catch everyday messes. For travel or storage, fold the frame and use the handle to carry it. This approach suits shoppers who value a movable, fold-away setup, a crate intended to remain permanently in one place may call for a different priority.

Maintenance

Slide out the ABS tray to clean it, then return it beneath the enclosure. Its perimeter lip helps keep messes contained on the tray rather than spilling beyond the crate. The removable tray means routine cleanup can be done without opening the door, a useful detail for keeping the crate ready for regular use.
