Canon color laser printer MF662Cdw

If you mainly print occasional pages, a simpler printer may be enough. If color documents, scanning, and copying are part of your regular routine, this Canon combines those jobs in one wireless machine.

It also offers duplex printing, so two-sided pages don’t have to mean manually flipping each sheet.

The trade-off is a one-sheet multipurpose tray, which matters if you often switch paper types or sizes.

What to know

The MF662Cdw is a color laser printer with print, scan, and copy functions. Canon lists print speeds of up to 26 pages per minute in both color and monochrome, with a first print time of approximately 10.3 seconds. Those figures suggest it’s aimed at people who value getting routine documents out quickly, actual results can depend on the job and setup.

A 5-inch color touchscreen provides access to the printer’s controls and customizable Application Library. Wireless setup is designed to take a few steps, and compatible mobile devices can print through the Canon PRINT app, Apple AirPrint, or Mopria Print Service. On the spec sheet, that makes it more flexible than a basic printer limited to jobs sent from a computer.

Paper goes in a 250-sheet standard cassette, with a separate 1-sheet multipurpose tray. The printer uses Canon Genuine Toner 075 or 075 high-capacity toner. Ten in mind that the multipurpose tray holds only one sheet, so feeding occasional alternate media is easier than running a stack through it. The product listing also includes a 3-year limited warranty.

Best use cases

This setup makes sense for a home workspace or small office that prints color documents, scans paperwork, and makes copies without wanting separate devices for each task. Picture printing a two-sided report, then using the scanner to digitize a signed page before sending it from the same desk. The touchscreen and mobile-print options can also help when the document starts on a phone rather than a computer.

A solid pick if you want color laser printing and everyday multifunction features in one device. Not the best choice if your main need is a large, uninterrupted run of specialty paper through the multipurpose tray, or if you only print monochrome pages and don’t need scanning or copying.

Tips for day-to-day use

Use the standard cassette for your regular paper supply and reserve the multipurpose tray for an occasional sheet that needs different handling. Duplex printing can reduce the need to manage separate single-sided pages for reports or drafts. Before printing from a phone, choose the compatible service that matches your device: Canon PRINT, AirPrint, or Mopria.

The high-capacity toner option is intended to provide higher page yields and fewer replacements, but the listing doesn’t state a specific yield. If replacement frequency is a major factor in your decision, that missing figure makes it hard to estimate how often toner will need attention for your workload.

Practical doubts

Can it print in color and black and white? Yes. The listed maximum speed is up to 26 ppm for both color and monochrome printing.

Can I print from a phone? Yes, from compatible mobile devices using Canon PRINT, Apple AirPrint, or Mopria Print Service.

Does it scan and copy as well as print? Yes. It’s described as a wireless, duplex 3-in-1 printer with print, scan, and copy functions.

Final verdict

Choose the MF662Cdw if you want a single wireless device for color printing, scanning, and copying, and expect the touchscreen, duplex printing, and mobile support to earn their place in regular use. Its listed speed and 250-sheet cassette suit routine document work better than a basic, occasional-use printer. If you don’t need color or the extra functions, a simpler setup may be a closer fit, if you frequently feed batches of alternate media, the one-sheet multipurpose tray is a practical constraint.
