Bosch GLM165-25G BLAZE Green-Beam Laser Measure, 165 Ft., ±1/16-In. Accuracy

The essentials

For measuring a long wall, checking a room’s dimensions, or capturing an awkward span, the Bosch BLAZE GLM165-25G provides a laser-based alternative to stretching out a tape. It measures from 5 to 165 ft. with accuracy up to ±1/16 in. Its green beam and backlit color display make the target and readings easier to see in low-light work areas. Real-time measurement updates as you move closer to or farther from the target.

The green point can be up to four times brighter than a standard red beam, helping with target visibility on measuring tasks. The tool includes 11 measuring functions, covering distance, area, volume, indirect measurements, and addition and subtraction. A rounding button lets you round readings to a fraction suited to the task, while haptic feedback provides a vibration to confirm a measurement in noisy settings. These features make it useful for both straightforward room measurements and calculations needed during layout work.

Usage tips

Aim the laser at the surface you want to measure, then use the real-time reading to track the distance as your position changes. For a room project, measurements can help establish wall lengths and calculate area or volume, for a difficult span, indirect measuring functions offer another way to take measurements. The backlit color display supports reading the result in dim work areas, and the green beam helps make the target more visible.

For repeated measurements, the addition and subtraction functions can help combine or compare dimensions without relying on a separate calculation at every step. Use the rounding button when a fractional reading is more practical for the task. The metal belt clip supports hands-free carrying between measurement points, and the rubber overmold housing helps protect major impact points during jobsite handling. The tool is IP65-rated and has a water-resistant design.

Tips for day-to-day use

Keep the laser directed at the intended target and read the display after the measurement settles. When working in a loud area, haptic feedback gives a tactile confirmation, in low light, the backlit color screen helps keep the numbers legible. The GLM165-25G uses alkaline batteries, so account for battery readiness when planning a day of measuring.

Customer feedback commonly highlights accuracy, visibility, ease of use, and the range of useful functions. Some buyers report that the green beam is easier to see in bright conditions, while battery-life experiences are mixed. Those impressions can help set expectations for regular use, but they do not replace the tool’s stated measurement specifications.

Questions before you buy

When it makes sense

The Bosch BLAZE GLM165-25G suits measuring work where a laser reading, visible display, and several calculation functions are more useful than relying only on a conventional tape. Its 165-ft. range, fractional rounding, and area and volume functions support room planning, layout, and jobsite measurements, while the green beam and backlit screen help make readings easier to work with across changing light conditions.
