Product description
The Lexar RW515 CFexpress Type A card reader speeds up large file workflows for photographers and videographers, offering fast transfers and broad device compatibility. It supports plug-and-play use and is aimed at users who move 8K footage or high‑resolution images between camera, card and computer with minimal fuss.
Key features
The RW515 uses USB 3.2 Gen 2 to deliver read speeds up to 900 MB/s and write speeds up to 800 MB/s, according to the manufacturer. That performance makes copying large video files noticeably quicker, and the compact metal housing helps dissipate heat during sustained transfers. It comes with a fixed USB‑C cable and a USB‑C to USB‑A adapter, so you can connect to newer laptops or older systems without extra cables.

The RW515 balances speed and portability, making it a practical tool for on‑location shoots and fast turnaround workflows. The metal chassis adds a degree of robustness that feels reassuring for travel, though the integrated cable means you should take care not to strain the connector. For those who handle large RAW files or 8K clips the transfer time savings are tangible.
Getting the most from it
It’s a good fit if you need reliable, fast transfers from CFexpress Type A cards to a laptop without juggling adapters. If you prioritise absolute ruggedness you might prefer a reader with detachable cables, but for everyday field use the RW515 offers a tidy mix of speed and convenience.
Lexar RW515 CFexpress Type A Card Reader is tested in Lexar’s quality labs and designed for broad compatibility, making it a sensible choice for photographers and videographers on the move. 📸⚙️🔌.
