SONGMICS 9 kg Dumbbell Set with Storage Stand, Hexagonal Coated Weights

A short home workout between work and dinner is easier to organise when the weights are ready to hand. This SONGMICS set includes three pairs, from 1 kg to 2 kg per dumbbell, plus a storage stand. The hexagonal shape helps keep them from rolling during floor exercises. The heaviest pair is 2 kg each, so this set is aimed at lighter training rather than heavier strength work.

Best use cases

The three weight options make the set useful for mixing lighter resistance exercises into a home routine: for example, switching from the 1 kg pair for shoulder movements to the 2 kg pair for exercises that allow a heavier load. The included stand gives the six dumbbells a dedicated place between sessions, which may suit a small workout area better than storing loose weights in a drawer or corner.

Worth considering if you want several light dumbbell options for general home fitness without buying a single pair at one fixed weight. If your routine calls for substantially heavier dumbbells or progressive loading beyond 2 kg per hand, a heavier or adjustable set would be a more suitable approach. The product information describes the weights as coated, it also refers to the coating as both vinyl and neoprene, so the exact coating material is not fully consistent across the details.

What you’ll notice day to day

The colour coding makes the pairs easy to distinguish: yellow for 1 kg, orange for 1.5 kg and purple for 2 kg. Their coated, contoured handles are described as offering a comfortable, secure hold, while the hexagonal ends are intended to stop the weights rolling away when set down. That can be useful during a floor-based session, such as putting a pair down between sets of rows or lunges.

The stand is convenient for keeping the set together, although buyer feedback on its sturdiness is mixed, with some describing it as flimsy or unstable. If a particularly robust rack is important to you, that is worth bearing in mind. Buyers also describe the dumbbells as comfortable and grippy for home workouts, while opinions on their size vary.

Highlights

The set contains six dumbbells in three pairs, with a combined listed weight of 9 kg. Each pair has a different weight, giving you a straightforward choice of resistance without changing plates or adjusting a handle. Cast iron is listed as the dumbbell material, with coated handles and hexagonal shapes among the stated features. A storage stand is included.

It’s not for you if your main aim is heavy lifting or if you need a wider range of loads than the three included pairs provide. Compared with buying one heavier fixed pair, this set prioritises variety at lighter weights and a place to store them, a heavier pair may make more sense for a narrower strength-training routine.

Practical questions

What weights are included? The set has two 1 kg dumbbells, two 1.5 kg dumbbells and two 2 kg dumbbells, in yellow, orange and purple respectively.

Does it come with storage? Yes. A stand is included for the six dumbbells, though buyer comments are mixed about how sturdy it feels.

Are the dumbbells suitable for floor exercises? Their hexagonal shape is designed to stop them rolling away when set down. The product information also says to store them on the floor or near ground level when not in use, and notes that they are not toys for children.

Buying verdict

This is a practical starting set for lighter home workouts where having three paired weights matters more than lifting heavy. The colour-coded options and included stand help keep a simple routine organised, and the non-rolling shape has a clear use during floor exercises. Choose it for accessible, lighter resistance, for heavier strength work, look for a set with higher weights instead.
