SONGMICS Hex Dumbbells, 2 x 5 kg, Neoprene-Coated, Port Blue

The SONGMICS pair comes in a fixed 2 x 5 kg format, with a cast-iron core and a neoprene coating. Their hexagonal shape helps keep them from rolling when set down. The load is fixed, so you cannot adjust the weight for different exercises.

On-body feel

The coated handles are designed to offer a secure, comfortable grip, with a textured surface intended to make them easier to hold during a workout. Buyers mention that the dumbbells are easy to handle and that their hands and fingers do not slip easily. That feedback may be useful if grip is a deciding factor, though it is not a substitute for choosing a weight that feels manageable for your own movements.

For a home session, the pair can be picked up for exercises such as curls or shoulder work, then placed on the floor between sets. The flat sides are a practical detail here: unlike round dumbbells, these are designed to stay put rather than roll away. The coating is described as odourless, and the surface is intended to be easy to clean.

Why it makes sense

Having two matching weights gives you a straightforward setup for strength exercises and cardio sessions at home, without needing a rack or a more involved adjustable-weight system. At 5 kg each, they provide one consistent resistance level, that simplicity can suit someone who wants a ready-to-use pair, while adjustable dumbbells make more sense when you need to change loads across exercises or as your training progresses.

Buyers also describe the set as easy to use and good value. Those are useful impressions to weigh alongside the fixed format: the main benefit is having a pair that is simple to pick up and use, rather than a system that offers multiple weight settings. It’s a good fit if you want a matching pair for home routines and already know that 5 kg per dumbbell is suitable for your intended exercises. It may not suit you if you need to vary the resistance within the same workout.

When it makes sense

Choose this set for home training where a fixed pair of 5 kg weights covers the movements you have in mind, and where a non-rolling shape is useful between sets. It offers a more direct alternative to adjustable weights if you prefer to pick up a pair and start, but it cannot provide lighter or heavier settings. If your routine calls for changing resistance frequently, that fixed load is the key point to consider before choosing it.
