Crayola Mini Kids Triangle Crayons, 16 Pieces, 16 Shades, 12+ Months

Some first art supplies need to be easy for small hands to hold, others prioritise a wider range of creative materials. These Crayola Mini Kids triangular wax crayons focus on a shaped grip for early drawing and colouring.

The pack contains 16 crayons in 16 different shades, giving toddlers a choice of colours without adding extra types of art materials to the setup.

They are intended for children from 12 months. The contoured barrel is designed to help guide fingers into position, while the crayons are described as having a smooth, full stroke.

Everyday use

These crayons suit simple drawing and colouring at home, such as filling in a large picture or making marks on paper at the kitchen table. Their triangular shape is the main practical distinction: it gives little fingers a profiled surface to hold rather than the round barrel found on some basic crayons.

The shaped grip may be useful as a child begins exploring how to hold a colouring tool. It is a design aid, not a guarantee of a particular grip or developmental result. An adult can set out a few shades at a time for a straightforward activity, then add the rest as the child becomes more comfortable choosing colours.

You’ll like it if you want a focused first set of wax crayons with several colours and a shape intended for younger children. If your priority is a mixed craft set with markers or paint, this pack is limited to crayons rather than a broader collection of materials.

What you’ll notice day to day

The practical appeal is the combination of a toddler-focused shape and a full set of different shades. Crayola describes the colours as vivid and the mark as smooth, which suits uncomplicated colouring and free drawing. The triangular profile also sets these apart from choosing crayons solely by colour or pack size: the barrel shape is part of the buying decision.

For a short activity, a child can use them to make marks, try different colours or add colour to simple drawings. They are a more targeted choice than buying general art supplies for several kinds of projects. The product details do not say that these crayons are washable, so avoid assuming that marks will come out of hands or clothing as they may with products specifically described as washable.

The essentials

• Name: Crayola Mini Kids Triangle Crayons
• Type: Triangular wax crayons
• Format: 16 pieces
• Colour: 16 different shades

Is it worth it?

This set makes sense when the main need is a first collection of crayons for a young child, with the shaped barrel and variety of shades both relevant to everyday drawing. It keeps the activity simple: paper and crayons are enough to get started, and the different colours offer some choice without moving into a larger craft kit.

Compared with a basic set chosen only for its colours, the triangular shape is the more distinctive reason to consider these. If shape is not important and you are simply looking for crayons, a standard-format set may meet that need just as well, if you specifically need washable supplies, the available details do not confirm that feature. You may want to skip it if washability is essential, or if you need a pack that includes other art materials. For early colouring with a shaped grip and 16 shades, it is a considered, age-directed option.
