SONGMICS ULPC001W01 20-Panel Indoor Small Animal Playpen with Floor, White

For small-animal owners looking to create a defined indoor area for exercise and exploration, the SONGMICS playpen combines connected panels with a floor to form a contained space for everyday use.

Its modular design lets you arrange the enclosure in different shapes, including an L-shape for a corner. The translucent white panels also make it easy to keep an eye on pets as they move around.

Choose this adaptable setup when you want to shape the enclosure around your room, a fixed cage, by contrast, keeps to one layout. The panels can also be stacked into a two-storey arrangement using the included parts, following the recommended assembly methods.

Why it makes sense

The enclosure is made with PP plastic panels and ABS plastic connectors. Its floor panels add stability and help protect the surface underneath, while the joined panel edges help prevent small animals from burrowing out. The smooth panels are designed to give pets such as guinea pigs, hamsters and hedgehogs little opportunity to climb out. Bunnies, ferrets and turtles are also listed as suitable small-animal uses, for pets that jump well, follow the recommended assembly arrangements to help keep them contained.

Assembly uses multi-angle connectors, and the included rubber mallet helps seat the panels. The lightweight modular structure can be taken apart or moved, which is useful when you need to reorganize an indoor space or put the enclosure away. If you want a larger area, the manufacturer says two sets can be connected and arranged in different shapes.

Key takeaways

The set includes 20 plastic panels: 12 measuring 15.7 x 11.8 inches and 8 measuring 11.8 x 11.8 inches. It also comes with 27 plastic connectors, 30 cable ties, a rubber mallet and instructions. The assembled playpen measures 49.2 x 24.8 x 16.5 inches and has a rectangular shape in its standard layout.

For a practical setup, place the enclosure where your pet can move around safely and use the floor panels as the base. The manufacturer recommends adding a pee pad to help keep droppings or debris from soiling the floor. During assembly, insert each panel corner fully into the bottom of its connector. Position panel seams facing down or outwards to discourage chewing, and cover the joints or add a mat around the base for pets that chew persistently.

Buyers often praise the straightforward assembly, cleaning and day-to-day functionality. Feedback is more varied on sturdiness, available space and how well the panels stand up to chewing, so the enclosure’s layout and your pet’s habits are useful considerations when setting it up.

Cleaning & care

The smooth plastic surfaces can be wiped with a damp cloth, making routine cleanup simple. A pee pad at the base can help manage mess, while a mat around the enclosure can provide an extra layer of floor protection. The playpen is intended for indoor use, avoid leaving it outdoors for extended periods.

Buying verdict

This SONGMICS set suits small-pet owners who want a configurable indoor enclosure with a floor, rather than a play area limited to a single fixed shape. Its range of panel sizes supports different layouts, and the lightweight sections make the pen easier to move or dismantle as household needs change. For supervised indoor roaming, the modular format offers a practical way to give small animals their own defined space while keeping the setup adaptable.
