Outsunny 343-049RD Kids Wooden Sandbox with Cover, Octagonal, 55" x 55

The included polyester cover helps keep leaves, pets and wind away from the sand, so the play area is easier to keep ready for outdoor fun. An octagonal fir-wood frame gives children room to dig and build, while built-in seats offer a comfortable place to play.

Measuring 55" x 55" x 8.5", this sandbox creates a dedicated play spot in a backyard or garden. Its roomy layout is designed for up to three children to play together.

Choose this covered design when you want a defined outdoor play area with seating and protection for the sand. A simple open sand pit may suit a different setup, but this model brings those practical features together.

Key takeaways

The sandbox is made from fir wood and has an octagonal shape with built-in wooden seats. Children can sit while digging, shaping sand or building castles, making the seats useful as part of the play area rather than just a frame around it. The cover helps protect the sand from leaves, pets and wind between play sessions.

A non-woven fabric liner supports drainage and ventilation beneath the sand. The detachable design uses pre-cut, pre-drilled wooden panels and includes instructions for assembly. Product dimensions are 139.5 x 139.5 x 21.5 centimetres, giving you a clear sense of the space to plan for in a garden or backyard.

Buyers highlight the sandbox’s size, appearance and ease of assembly. Feedback on durability is mixed, so it’s worth following the included instructions when setting it up and using it as an outdoor children’s play space.

Usage tips

Set the sandbox up on a level outdoor area with enough surrounding room for children to get in and out comfortably. Keep the cover available for use between play sessions to help shield the sand from everyday outdoor debris. The built-in seats provide places to sit while playing, while the open centre leaves room for shared digging and sand-building activities.

The liner is attached to the box and supports drainage and ventilation. During assembly, use the pre-drilled panels and follow the supplied instructions so the wooden sections and seats are positioned as intended. With its cover, seating and defined footprint, this design suits families looking for a backyard play zone rather than a basic uncovered sand pit.

Who it’s for

This sandbox is intended for children and is listed for ages 3–8. Its octagonal play area is designed to accommodate up to three children, making it a practical choice for siblings or a backyard playdate. The wooden seats add a place to sit during longer stretches of imaginative play, and the cover helps keep the sand protected when the activity is over.

It’s a good fit if you want one outdoor setup that combines a sand-play area, built-in seating and a cover. The 55" x 55" footprint is useful to consider when choosing where it will sit in your garden or backyard.
