IgnitChef Weed Torch, 340,000 BTU, 12.5 ft Hose, Piezo Igniter

The 91 cm wand gives this IgnitChef propane torch an upright format for garden and walkway tasks. A 12.5 ft (3.8 m) hose lets you work with the cylinder set apart from the wand. Its 340,000 BTU output and flame temperature of up to 1,800°C support seasonal weed control and winter ice melting with one tool.

Benefits

For weeds growing between pavers, along gravel driveways or in stone walkway joints, the torch applies heat directly instead of relying on chemical weed treatments. The intense flame targets the weed and its root structure, making this a practical approach for spot work around hard surfaces. Use it with care around surrounding plants and materials, and follow local fire rules.

When winter leaves ice on driveway patches or walkways, the high-output flame can also be used for de-icing. The push-button piezo igniter is designed for straightforward lighting, while the Turbo Trigger adjusts the flame for the task. Rather than choosing between a dedicated garden tool and a separate ice-melting torch, this model brings both uses together.

The CSA-certified design includes industrial-grade brass valves and reverse-flow protection. Its upright wand helps reduce the need to bend during longer garden or walkway jobs. For focused work, the extension pole can be detached to use the torch in a more compact form, including for wood charring or roof repair.

The essentials

The torch connects to standard Canadian 20 lb LP tanks using QCC1/POL, or to 1 lb camping bottles using CGA600. The flexible rubber hose measures 12.5 ft (3.8 m) and is designed to remain pliable in cold weather, giving you room to move while the cylinder stays positioned for the job. The propane cylinder is sold separately.

At 91 cm long, the wand is suited to sweeping work across garden edges, gravel and paved areas without needing to hold the flame close to the ground. For a small patch, detach the extension pole and use the compact torch format. This choice of setup makes it easier to adapt the same tool to broad outdoor areas or more concentrated tasks.

Getting the most from it

Choose the cylinder connection that matches your planned task: a standard 20 lb LP tank for larger areas, or a 1 lb camping bottle for spot jobs. Keep the hose clear of the work area and direct the flame only where needed. Before lighting, set up the propane connection according to the product instructions, then use the piezo igniter and Turbo Trigger to operate the torch. Follow local fire restrictions and keep the flame away from people, pets and combustible materials.

For winter use, apply the flame to the icy section you need to clear, for garden care, focus on individual weeds around paving or gravel. The ability to switch between upright wand use and the compact format gives you a useful way to handle different outdoor jobs without changing tools.

Buying verdict

This IgnitChef torch is suited to homeowners looking for one propane tool for hard-surface weed control and driveway or walkway ice melting. Its 340,000 BTU output, 12.5 ft hose, upright 91 cm wand and choice of compatible cylinder connections make it adaptable to both wider outdoor work and targeted jobs. If you want a heat-based alternative to chemical weed treatments that can also serve a winter de-icing role, this dual-purpose format brings those tasks together.
