Techkey Black-5.3-1 USB Bluetooth 5.3 Adapter, Class 1, 300 ft Range

Connect a desktop PC to Bluetooth headphones, a keyboard, a mouse, or a printer with the Techkey Black-5.3-1 USB adapter. Its Class 1 radio and extended antenna are designed for long-range connections, while Plug & Play setup gets the adapter ready to use by connecting it to a USB port.

Bluetooth 5.3 with EDR supports wireless data transfer at up to 3 Mbps. The adapter also supports Bluetooth Low Energy and connects with devices using several earlier Bluetooth versions.

What matters most

The extended antenna and Class 1 radio provide a stated transmission range of up to 300 ft in an open area. That reach can help when a Bluetooth accessory is farther from the desktop than it would be in a typical close-range setup. Physical obstructions and wireless interference can affect the actual range, so placement and surroundings matter.

EDR supports transfer rates of up to 3 Mbps, and Bluetooth Low Energy offers a low-energy connection mode. The adapter supports Bluetooth 5.3, 5.2, 4.2, 4.2 LE, 4.0, and 2.1+EDR devices. It can connect up to five devices at once, including speakers, headsets, keyboards, mice, and Bluetooth printers. Compared with keeping peripherals wired to the computer, it provides a USB-based way to connect compatible accessories wirelessly.

Getting the most from it

Plug the mini dongle into a USB port on a supported Windows desktop PC to use its Bluetooth function, driver installation is not required. It supports Windows 11, Windows 10, and Windows 8.1. Bluetooth accessories still need to be paired with the computer to establish a connection.

For a practical desktop setup, connect a keyboard and mouse for everyday input, then pair a headset for calls or audio, or a Bluetooth printer for wireless printing. Up to five connected devices can help bring several compatible peripherals together through one adapter. Its USB interface keeps the setup centered on the computer rather than a separate network connection.

Who it’s for

This adapter is suited to Windows desktop users who want to connect compatible Bluetooth peripherals through USB, including people setting up a wireless keyboard and mouse or adding headphones and speakers to a workstation. Support for several Bluetooth versions is useful when a desktop needs to work with a mix of newer and earlier Bluetooth accessories.

The operating system is an important part of the fit: the adapter supports Windows 11, Windows 10, and Windows 8.1. It is not compatible with Mac OS, Linux, car stereo systems, Xbox, PS4, or TVs. Choose it for a supported Windows PC setup rather than as a Bluetooth adapter for those systems.

When it makes sense

The Techkey Black-5.3-1 makes sense when a desktop setup calls for wireless connections to several compatible devices, or when an accessory needs more room from the computer than a short-range arrangement allows. Its USB connection, driver-free setup, extended antenna, and support for up to five devices address those needs directly. For a Windows desktop used with Bluetooth input devices, audio accessories, or a printer, it provides a straightforward way to add wireless connectivity.
