HP Business Laptop 17.3-Inch

Key points

For a desk where a larger screen and a built-in number pad matter more than a compact footprint, this HP business laptop is aimed at everyday work, study, video calls, and general multitasking. Its Intel Core Ultra 5 225U processor, Windows 11 Home, and full-size keyboard give it a productivity-first setup, while the 17.3-inch display leaves more room for documents and browser windows than a smaller laptop typically does.

The listing names 16GB of DDR5 memory and a 512GB SSD, but the detailed description later says 8GB and 256GB. That is a meaningful conflict, not a minor wording difference: keep in mind that the actual memory and storage configuration should be confirmed before you choose it. The listed screen resolution is 1600 x 900, so this is a spacious display rather than a high-resolution option for people who prioritize a sharper image or detailed creative work.

How to use it

The numeric keypad is useful for entering figures into spreadsheets, invoices, or forms without reaching for a separate keyboard. For example, you could keep a spreadsheet open beside a video call and type figures directly into the sheet. The 720p camera, dual-array microphones, and dual speakers cover the basics for remote meetings, while the camera privacy shutter provides a way to close off the camera when it is not in use.

For a desk setup, the listed connections include USB-A, USB-C, HDMI, and a combined headphone/microphone jack. The USB-C port supports Power Delivery and DisplayPort 1.4, which may be useful when connecting compatible accessories or a display. The listing also mentions a five-in-one hub, but does not explain its ports, so its exact role in a setup is unclear.

Practical tips

This is a large-screen laptop, not a lightweight travel-first pick: the stated weight is 4.62 lb. It may suit a home office or a permanent study spot better than a bag you carry all day. The antiglare screen and full-size keyboard are practical for long stretches of reading and typing, but its 250-nit brightness and 60% NTSC color gamut make it less compelling for color-sensitive editing or very bright workspaces.

Battery capacity is listed as 41 Wh, and fast charging is described as reaching 50% in 45 minutes. No runtime is provided, so the “long battery” wording does not establish how long it will last for your workload. It makes sense if you want a roomy screen, a number pad, and everyday Windows productivity in one machine. Not the best choice if portability, a higher-resolution screen, or confirmed memory and storage specs are your main priorities.

Questions before you buy

Does it have 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD? The product name says it does, but the detailed description lists 8GB and 256GB. Confirm the exact configuration before relying on either set of figures.

Is it suited to video calls? The listed 720p camera, dual-array microphones, and dual speakers support basic conferencing. The camera also has a privacy shutter.

Can it connect to an external display? The listed ports include HDMI 1.4b and USB-C with DisplayPort 1.4 support. The connected display and cable also need to support the relevant connection.

Buying verdict

Choose this HP if a large screen and integrated numeric keypad would make desk-based work more comfortable, and the listed resolution and weight fit your routine. Its processor and port selection point toward general productivity rather than a specialized workstation. The main reason to pause is the conflicting memory and SSD information, if the configuration cannot be confirmed, a laptop with unambiguous specifications is the safer buying decision.
