HOMBYS SFHM-22x22 Couch Cushion Insert, 5-Inch Firm Foam with Polyester Batting

Refresh a sofa seat by replacing a worn cushion with the HOMBYS SFHM-22x22 insert. Its high-density foam core is wrapped in polyester batting, combining a firm support feel with a finished outer layer designed to give the cushion a fuller appearance and help smooth the fabric cover.

The insert measures 22" x 22" x 5" and has a removable, machine-washable polyester cover. It’s made for indoor seating and can also be used in other furniture projects that call for cushion padding.

Technical details

• Type: Couch cushion replacement insert
• Size: 22" x 22" x 5"
• Fill: High-density foam wrapped with polyester batting
• Firmness: Firm
• Cover: Removable polyester with zipper closure, machine washable
• Shape: Rectangular
• Recommended use: Sofa, indoor use

The batting is bonded around the foam, so the insert is supplied as a wrapped cushion rather than bare foam that needs a separate layer added. That makes it a practical choice when updating an existing seat cushion. The zippered cover can be removed for machine washing, helping simplify routine care.

Practical tips

Measure the cushion area before ordering and compare it with the listed 22" x 22" dimensions. This is especially useful when replacing an insert inside an existing cover, where the fit affects how the cushion sits and looks. The stated thickness is 5 inches, so consider the dimensions together when choosing an insert for your furniture.

The cushion arrives compressed. Open the package, unroll the insert, cut away the plastic, and allow 24–48 hours for it to expand, cooler temperatures may require additional expansion time. Once expanded, place it inside the cushion cover. Since the insert is described as firm, it suits buyers looking for a more supportive feel rather than a soft, sink-in cushion. Need a replacement that’s already wrapped instead of foam that requires separate batting? This design brings both together in one insert.

Buyer feedback is positive about fit and comfort, while opinions on firmness differ. Some customers appreciate the firm feel, others find it stiff. Feedback on perceived size and thickness also varies, so measuring your cushion space against the listed dimensions is a useful step when selecting a replacement.

Usage tips

Use this insert for an indoor sofa cushion, or for another upholstery project where a 22" x 22" foam cushion with a 5-inch profile is suitable. Its removable cover is machine washable, remove it using the zipper before washing. The foam-and-batting construction also makes it a ready-wrapped alternative to sourcing foam and cushion wrap separately.

Final verdict

The HOMBYS SFHM-22x22 is a straightforward choice for refreshing a sofa seat when you need a firm, wrapped insert in a 22" x 22" size. High-density foam, bonded polyester batting, and a removable washable cover bring the main replacement needs into one cushion, making it useful for a measured sofa-cushion update or a compatible upholstery project.
