ErgoFocus Laptop Desk Mount for 17-inch Notebooks

The gas spring arm gives this ErgoFocus desk mount a more adjustable setup than a fixed laptop riser, while its tray can also be used as part of a single-monitor mounting arrangement. It is designed for notebooks up to 17 inches or computer screens from 13 to 32 inches, so it can suit a desk that needs to alternate between laptop and monitor use. The main tradeoff is that the listed fit and weight limits matter: this is not a universal mount for every device or display setup.

Technical details

The mount combines a gas spring arm with a laptop tray measuring 11.8 inches long by 10.23 inches wide. Its stated capacity is 3.3 to 17.6 pounds. For a monitor, the listed screen range is 13 to 32 inches, with VESA patterns of 75 x 75 mm or 100 x 100 mm. For a notebook, the maximum listed size is 17 inches.

Those limits are more useful for choosing than the “2 in 1” label alone. Check your device’s weight and, for a monitor, its VESA pattern before deciding. The product information does not specify the arm’s adjustment range or how it attaches to the desk, so those details cannot be assumed from the gas spring design.

Compatibility

This mount is intended for a laptop or a single computer screen, rather than a multi-monitor setup. A notebook must be no larger than 17 inches, a monitor must be between 13 and 32 inches and use one of the stated VESA patterns. The supported load is listed as 3.3 to 17.6 pounds, so screen size alone does not establish fit.

If you are setting up a monitor, look for the VESA measurements in its specifications. For a laptop, compare its dimensions with the tray size as well as the 17-inch maximum. That matters because two notebooks with the same screen size can have different overall footprints, and the stated screen limit does not guarantee that every chassis will sit neatly on the tray.

Usage tips

Before choosing a device for the mount, note its weight and check the relevant size or VESA details. For a laptop, a quick desk-side check is to compare its base with the 11.8-by-10.23-inch tray, for a monitor, confirm the mounting pattern rather than relying only on its diagonal measurement. Keep the intended arrangement simple: the listing describes support for a laptop or a single monitor, not simultaneous use of both.

A gas spring arm is a different approach from a stationary riser. It is aimed at users who want an arm-based desk setup, while a basic stand may be a better fit for someone who only needs to lift a laptop and does not need monitor mounting. The listing does not give details about desk attachment, so make sure the mounting method suits your workspace before buying.

Questions before you buy

Can it hold a laptop and a monitor at the same time? The product is described as a 2-in-1 mount for a laptop or a single monitor. The available details do not confirm a simultaneous two-device setup.

Will it fit any 17-inch laptop? Seventeen inches is the stated maximum notebook size, but the tray itself measures 11.8 by 10.23 inches. Compare your laptop’s footprint with those dimensions rather than relying on screen size alone.

What should I check for a monitor? Confirm that the screen is 13 to 32 inches, weighs within the listed 3.3-to-17.6-pound range, and has a 75 x 75 mm or 100 x 100 mm VESA pattern.

When it makes sense

A solid pick if you want one arm-based desk mount that can be configured for a compatible laptop or a single monitor, and your device falls within the stated limits. It is especially relevant when a basic laptop riser would not meet your monitor-mounting needs. You may want to skip it if your screen is outside the listed size or weight range, your monitor lacks the specified VESA pattern, or you need confirmed information about desk attachment and arm travel before you buy. Without having tried it, those missing setup details are the main reason to compare the mounting requirements carefully.
