DreamSky DS216 AM/FM Portable Radio with Analog Dial and Dual Power

For listening at home, a plug-in setup keeps the radio ready by a bedside or in the kitchen. For time outdoors or during a power outage, battery operation lets you take it where an outlet is not available.

The DreamSky DS216 tunes AM and FM stations with a large analog dial, so you can select music, news, sports, and talk radio using straightforward controls.

A telescopic FM antenna and built-in AM antenna support station tuning, while the headphone jack offers a way to listen without playing sound through the speaker.

Technical overview

The DS216 is a portable AM/FM radio with an analog tuner. Its frequency ranges are 87–108 MHz for FM and 520–1,710 kHz for AM. The large tuning dial is designed to make station selection easy to see and operate, including for listeners who prefer familiar, simple controls.

For FM reception, extend and adjust the telescopic antenna. When tuning AM, turn the radio to find the direction that gives the strongest signal. This makes it practical to position the radio near a kitchen counter, bedside table, or outdoor seating area according to the station you want to hear.

The built-in speaker provides room listening, and the 3.5 mm mono headphone jack supports private listening with compatible earphones. Buyers often praise the sound, reception, compact size, and retro appearance. Some also report reliability concerns, including units that stopped working early, so customer experiences are not uniformly positive.

Practical tips

Use the included AC adapter for plug-in listening at home. For portable use, the radio runs on four AA alkaline batteries, rechargeable batteries are not suitable for powering it. This gives you a choice of power sources for everyday listening or situations when household power is unavailable.

The analog tuner works by turning the AM/FM selector and tuning dial. Move the dial slowly to help land on the station you want. For FM, adjust the telescopic antenna’s length and angle, for AM, rotate the radio rather than relying on the FM antenna. These simple adjustments can help you find a clearer signal in different locations.

What’s included

The package includes the portable AM/FM radio, an AC adapter, and a user manual. The adapter is useful for keeping the radio plugged in at home, while the separate battery option supports listening away from an outlet.
