Donna Summer Christmas Spirit Vinyl, 10 Original Holiday Tracks
Product description
For holiday listeners choosing between familiar carols and newly written seasonal songs, Donna Summer’s Christmas Spirit brings both approaches together. This vinyl edition presents the album’s original 10 tracks on standard black vinyl. It offers a seasonal set centered on Summer’s vocals, traditional Christmas music, and original songs.
How to use it
Play Christmas Spirit as part of a holiday music rotation, or set aside time for the complete album when you want a mix of familiar Christmas themes and songs written specifically for the season. The combination makes it a natural fit for listeners who enjoy classic carols but also want original material in the same collection. Its vinyl format also suits listeners building a record collection around holiday albums and Donna Summer releases.
The album was originally released on October 4, 1994, under PolyGram and Mercury Records, with Michael Omartian as producer. This reissue is notable for bringing the original 10-track album back to vinyl for the first time in 30 years. For a seasonal listening session, the sequence offers a complete album experience rather than a selection of unrelated holiday tracks.
Benefits
The musical contrast is the main draw: traditional Christmas carols sit alongside three original Christmas songs by Donna Summer. That gives the album a blend of recognizable seasonal material and songs created for this release, making it useful when you want more variety than a collection made up entirely of standards. Summer’s voice is central to the album, with the arrangements providing a full orchestral setting for the holiday repertoire.
Listeners’ comments often point to the vocals, the orchestration, and the album’s spiritual Christmas material. Some particularly appreciate how Summer’s voice carries the traditional songs, while others value the vocal interludes connected with the birth of Christ. Those qualities give the record a reflective side as well as a traditional seasonal feel, so it can suit listeners looking for Christmas music with both familiar melodies and a spiritual dimension.
Compared with a playlist assembled from many artists, this is a single-artist album with a consistent vocal presence and production approach. Choose it when you want Donna Summer’s interpretation of holiday music in a dedicated vinyl edition, rather than a broad compilation of performers or only a set of familiar carols.
