Ezra Furman Goodbye Small Head Sea Blue 140g Vinyl LP
Product description
For listeners seeking emotionally intense songwriting and a cinematic rock sound, Goodbye Small Head brings both into focus. Ezra Furman’s album contains twelve songs shaped by experiences of losing control and facing overwhelming feelings. This sea blue vinyl LP includes a two-page insert. Its vivid arrangements make it a distinctive choice for a focused album listen.
Key points
The album moves through themes including illness, mysticism, heartbreak, drugs, and life in a troubled society. Rather than observing these experiences from a distance, the songs are written from within the emotional storm. That direct perspective gives the record a personal, immersive character for listeners who value expressive songwriting.
The sound combines a longtime band playing together with orchestral elements and samples. A small string section appears on eight of the twelve tracks, while samples are used for the first time in Furman’s work. The result is described as cinematic and intense, with psychedelic beauty and a wounded sense of triumph alongside its darker subject matter. Brian Deck produced the album in Chicago, connecting it with Furman’s earlier rock recordings.

Everyday use
Set aside time to hear the songs as a complete sequence: the album’s twelve tracks explore different forms of being overcome, from the panicked energy of “Jump Out” to the existential struggle of “Power of the Moon.” The string arrangements and evocative samples add layers to the band’s performance, giving attentive listening more to follow than lyrics alone. The two-page insert also gives the physical edition a place in a music collection beyond playback.
Listeners choosing between a vinyl album and a digital version are choosing between a physical record experience and the convenience of digital access. This edition suits a collection built around albums as complete works, especially when color vinyl and printed material matter to the listener. Its sea blue finish makes the specific edition easy to distinguish on a shelf.
When it makes sense
Goodbye Small Head makes sense for Ezra Furman listeners drawn to deeply personal lyrics, adventurous rock arrangements, and records that balance darkness with wonder. It also offers a clear point of difference from more communal, anthem-centered songwriting: these songs focus on the experience of being alone and overwhelmed. Choose the sea blue LP for a physical edition of this twelve-song album, with a 140g record and two-page insert.
