Aothia Desk Mat 37.8 x 17 Inches

Key points

The reversible surface is the main reason to consider this Aothia desk mat: one side is natural cork, and the other is PU leather, so you can choose the feel and look that suits your workspace. At 37.8 x 17 inches, it provides room for a laptop, keyboard, mouse, and journal without needing a separate mouse pad for the setup described by the maker. Its 0.08-inch thickness adds a soft layer between your everyday gear and the desk.

The cork is FSC-certified, according to the maker, and described as sweat-absorbent, durable, and resistant to tearing. The leather side is waterproof and can be wiped clean. Those features make the mat useful as both a work surface and a desktop protector, though the description does not specify how it performs with every type of mouse or desk finish.

How it fits

This size is intended for a broad desk area rather than a small spot just for a mouse. Picture a laptop and keyboard set up side by side, with the mouse and a journal still on the mat. That arrangement can help keep the work area visually contained and give your hands a softer surface while typing or writing. It may also suit a home office where the desk doubles as a place for occasional writing or drawing.

A solid pick if you want one large, reversible surface for several desk essentials and prefer having cork and PU leather as distinct options. It might not be a great match if you need a compact pad, a thicker cushion, or confirmed mouse performance for a particular device. Keep in mind that the listed thickness is 0.08 inches, so this is a slim desk layer, not a substantial padded mat.

Tips for day-to-day use

Choose the side that best suits the task: use the PU leather face when easy wipe-down cleanup matters, or turn to the cork side for a different texture. The maker says stains on the leather surface can be removed with a cloth or wet wipes. For a quick reset after work, move the keyboard and journal aside and wipe the exposed surface rather than treating the mat like a fabric pad that needs laundering.

Since the mat covers a sizable section of the desk, measure your available space before choosing this size. Leave room for anything you keep outside the pad, such as a desk lamp or other accessories. The product is also listed in other sizes, but the description does not give their dimensions beyond the options stated, so compare the listed measurements when selecting a different fit.

Practical doubts

Does it replace a separate mouse pad? The maker presents the smooth PU leather surface as suitable for mouse use, so it is designed to serve that purpose. Specific mouse models are not listed.

Can the mat be cleaned with water? The leather side is described as waterproof and wipeable, the care directions mention a cloth or wet wipes for stains. No cleaning instructions are given for the cork side.

What can fit on the 37.8 x 17-inch size? The description says it can accommodate a laptop, mouse, keyboard, and journal. The exact fit will depend on the dimensions of your own items.

Buying verdict

Choose this Aothia desk mat if you want a wide desktop protector that can switch between cork and wipe-clean PU leather, and the listed dimensions suit your desk. It offers more than a basic mouse pad by making room for writing and several work essentials in the same area. Skip this size if your desk is tight, or if you need a thickly cushioned surface or product-specific assurances about mouse tracking, neither is established by the available details.
