ONE FOR ALL URC 7125 Evolve 2 Universal Remote for TV and Set-Top Box

The Evolve 2 brings TV and set-top box controls together, so you can manage everyday viewing with one remote instead of switching between two.

Its Watch TV activity keeps key controls straightforward: use the volume buttons for the television and the programme buttons for the set-top box, without changing control modes.

Optimised for Smart TVs, it also has a learning function, allowing you to copy functions from an original remote to tailor the controls to your preferences.

The Evolve 2 is designed to operate a television and a set-top box, including cable, satellite and terrestrial receivers. Its Watch TV activity assigns volume control to the TV and programme selection to the receiver, bringing the most-used viewing functions together in a single layout. That makes it a practical replacement for keeping separate remotes close at hand.

Best use cases

Choose this remote for a living room or bedroom setup where one TV is paired with a set-top box. When changing channels on the receiver and adjusting the television volume, the dedicated Watch TV activity keeps those actions on the relevant buttons, without a mode change between them. It is also optimised for Smart TV controls, making it suited to a setup where television functions are used alongside a receiver.

Setup is designed to be simple, with a three-step process and a SimpleSet option for quick installation with well-known brands. The learning function adds another useful route: copy functions from the original remote to personalise the controls. This combination is helpful when replacing a lost or worn remote, or when consolidating the controls used for everyday viewing.

Buyer feedback commonly highlights ease of setup and use with different equipment, with some customers mentioning Virgin 360 and YouView boxes. Views on the buttons are more mixed, so consider the controls you use most often when choosing a replacement. The core appeal is a simpler way to handle TV and set-top box viewing from one handset.

Usage tips

Install 2 AAA alkaline batteries before use. For a two-device setup, use the TV controls for volume and the set-top box programme buttons for channel selection through Watch TV activity. If you want a particular function from your original remote, the learning function lets you copy it across, so the control layout can better suit your routine.

Compared with buying another single-device remote, the Evolve 2 is designed to bring both the television and receiver into one control setup. It is a focused choice for households that want those everyday viewing tasks together, rather than a remote intended to operate a larger collection of devices.

Buying verdict

The ONE FOR ALL Evolve 2 URC 7125 makes everyday TV and set-top box use more straightforward through one remote, with Watch TV controls for volume and channel selection and a learning function for added personalisation. It suits viewers looking to consolidate a two-device setup while keeping the main viewing controls easy to reach.
