Barbie Chelsea GLN73 Holiday Doll with Unique Swimsuit Design

Made from plastic, the Barbie Chelsea GLN73 Holiday Doll features a distinctive swimsuit design that sets the scene for beach-themed stories and imaginative play. With Chelsea as the character, children can create their own holiday scenarios, bring a familiar Barbie Universe figure into play and give each story its own direction.

The doll is supplied as one piece and requires no assembly, so it is ready to join play straight away. No batteries are required either, keeping the focus on storytelling rather than set-up.

Usage tips

Use Chelsea to build simple beach and holiday scenes, acting out conversations, inventing characters or changing the direction of a story as play develops. The swimsuit gives children a clear starting point for a seaside setting, while the character can also be part of broader imaginative play. A child might create a day at the beach, decide what happens next and use Chelsea to explore different roles and interactions.

For a more collaborative activity, children can take turns deciding what the characters do and adding new ideas to the same story. The figure is intended for imaginative play, and the beach theme offers a straightforward prompt when someone wants inspiration to get started. It can also be used for solo storytelling, with Chelsea at the centre of the scene.

Why it makes sense

This Chelsea doll combines a recognisable character with a specific holiday look, giving play a clear theme without dictating how the story should unfold. The unique swimsuit design is the main visual detail, making the doll a natural fit for beach-inspired role play. What could make a story easier to begin than a character already dressed for a seaside adventure?

Compared with choosing a general figure as a blank starting point, this doll brings a ready-made character and beach setting into the playroom. That focus can help children move straight into storytelling, while leaving the plot, dialogue and other details to their imagination. Barbie describes the play benefits as encouraging creativity, imagination and social skills through play, shared story-making gives children a practical way to put those ideas into action.
