Usage tips

The 22-inch rear wheels and hand rims let the user propel the chair, while the swivel front wheels help with steering in everyday settings such as the home, sidewalks and shops. For a trip by car, the chair folds to a 14-inch width, and the quick-release rear wheels simplify transport and storage. The manufacturer notes that it fits conveniently into most vehicle trunks.

For transfers, engage the brakes, fold the footrests up and have the user hold the armrests while getting on or off slowly. Do not step on the footrests during a transfer. Keep the seat belt fastened while seated, and slow down when turning or travelling on a slope. These straightforward steps help make everyday use more controlled for both the rider and caregiver.

Getting the most from it

This chair brings together self-propulsion and portability, a useful combination for moving around at home and taking the chair along to appointments, family visits or shopping. Compared with a fixed-frame wheelchair, its folding frame and removable rear wheels make car transport and compact storage a more central part of the design. The aluminium frame keeps the listed weight to 11.52 kg, while solid rear tires do not require inflation.

Buyers commonly appreciate the lightweight feel and easy folding for transport, and some also praise the chair’s functionality and comfort. Feedback on manoeuvrability is mixed, so steering impressions vary. The 6-inch swivel front wheels are designed to help with turning in tight spaces, the large rear wheels and hand rims support independent movement when the setting allows.

Before you decide

Can the user propel the wheelchair? Yes. The 22-inch rear wheels have ergonomic hand rims for self-propulsion, and push handles are provided for a caregiver to assist.

Is it designed for car transport? The chair folds to a 14-inch width and has quick-release rear wheels. The manufacturer states that its folded design fits conveniently into most vehicle trunks.

What helps with transfers? The footrests swing away, and the brakes should be engaged before the user gets on or off. The user should hold the armrests and transfer slowly rather than stepping on the footrests.

Buying verdict

The WHLICKS A06 suits adults and seniors looking for a manual wheelchair that supports self-propulsion while remaining practical to fold, carry and store between outings. Its large solid rear wheels, swing-away footrests and transport-friendly frame make it a useful choice for everyday mobility at home and on the go.
