v4ink DR420 Compatible Drum Unit for Brother Laser Printers, 12,000-Page Yield

For home offices and workplaces that need a replacement imaging drum for a compatible Brother laser printer, the v4ink DR420 provides a single black drum unit with a stated yield of 12,000 pages at 5% coverage on letter/A4 paper. It is a practical way to replace the drum component while continuing to use the printer’s toner cartridge.

The choice depends on the part your printer needs: this is a drum unit, not a toner cartridge. Match the printer model to the compatibility list, then install the drum with the toner cartridge in the printer assembly.

The essentials

The DR420 is designed for a range of Brother HL, DCP, MFC, IntelliFax and FAX models, including HL-2240, HL-2240D, HL-2270DW, HL-2280DW, DCP-7060D, DCP-7065DN, MFC-7240, MFC-7360N, MFC-7460DN and MFC-7860DW. Other listed compatible models include HL-2130, HL-2132, HL-2220, HL-2230, HL-2242, HL-2250, DCP-7055, DCP-7057, DCP-7070, MFC-7470, IntelliFax-2840, IntelliFax-2845, IntelliFax-2940, FAX-2950 and FAX-2990. Check the model name on your printer against the list before choosing the drum.

The package contains one black DR420 drum unit, toner is not included. Its stated 12,000-page yield is based on 5% page coverage, so actual page life depends on the amount of content printed. For regular document work, the rated yield gives a useful reference when planning replacement supplies. Buyers have described the fit and operation positively, while some report uneven or unclear print results. A clean, legible output remains an important consideration when assessing any replacement drum.

Best use cases

This drum is suited to routine black-and-white printing on a supported laser printer, such as office documents, forms and other plain-paper jobs. It makes sense when the drum needs replacement and the printer’s toner cartridge is still the component you intend to use. If the supply you need is toner rather than a drum, choose a toner cartridge instead, the two parts serve different roles in the printer.

For a small office, the yield figure can help with supply planning, while the single-unit pack provides a direct replacement for one drum position. Rather than replacing a working printer to address drum wear, this part lets you maintain a compatible printer with the component designed for that task.

How to use it

Open the printer cover and remove the existing drum assembly. Transfer the toner cartridge into the DR420 drum unit until it locks into place, then install the combined assembly in the printer. The supplied instructions also describe sliding the drum’s green tab from side to side to clean the corona wire before reinstalling the assembly. Follow the procedure for your printer model, and make sure the toner cartridge is seated in the drum before placing the assembly back in the machine.

What to clarify

Which printers is the DR420 compatible with? It is listed for selected Brother HL, DCP, MFC, IntelliFax and FAX models, including the HL-2240D, DCP-7065DN and MFC-7860DW. Confirm your exact model against the compatibility list before installation.

Does this pack include toner? No. It contains one black DR420 drum unit, and the toner cartridge is a separate part that transfers into the drum for installation.

How is the 12,000-page yield calculated? The stated yield is based on 5% coverage on letter/A4 paper. It is a reference for planning, pages with more printed content use more toner and may affect the number of pages produced.

Is it worth it?

If your compatible Brother laser printer needs a drum replacement, the v4ink DR420 offers a clearly identified part, a broad listed range of supported models and a stated 12,000-page yield under the specified coverage conditions. It is the relevant choice for maintaining a supported printer when the drum is due for replacement and you plan to keep using its toner cartridge.
