Skydo DR420 Drum Unit Replacement for Brother Laser Printers, Up to 12,000 Pages

When a Brother laser printer needs a replacement drum unit, the Skydo DR420 is designed for a focused component swap rather than a complete toner-cartridge purchase. It is a compatible drum-only unit for a range of Brother printers, with a stated yield of up to 12,000 pages at 5% coverage on letter/A4 paper.

If you’re replacing the drum, this one-pack format keeps the purchase centred on that part. If you need toner, choose a toner cartridge instead, the drum and toner serve different roles in the printer.

What to know

This replacement drum unit is identified as DR420, DR 420 and DR-420. It is listed for Brother HL-2230, HL-2240, HL-2240D, HL-2270DW and HL-2280DW printers, as well as DCP-7060D, DCP-7065DN, MFC-7360N, MFC-7460DN and MFC-7860DW models. Match your printer’s model with this compatibility list before ordering so the replacement is suited to your machine.

The stated yield is up to 12,000 pages per drum, based on 5% coverage on letter/A4 paper. Actual page use will depend on how much of each page is printed. The package is one DR-420 drum unit only, not a toner cartridge, which makes it a straightforward option when the drum is the part you’re looking to replace.

Buyer feedback is mixed on compatibility and print results: some buyers describe a satisfactory fit and output, while others report issues. For a considered choice, use the printer model list as your first compatibility check and distinguish drum replacement from toner replacement.

Tips for day-to-day use

Keep the DR420 reference handy when identifying the replacement part, and match it to your printer’s model before installation. If you’re planning a maintenance purchase, note that this product is the drum unit only, a toner cartridge is a separate printer supply. The one-pack format is suited to replacing a single drum unit without choosing a multi-pack.

Best use cases

This unit is suited to owners of the listed Brother laser printers who need a compatible DR420 drum replacement. It can also fit a planned printer-supply order when the drum is due for replacement and the toner supply is being handled separately. For example, if your office maintains an HL-2270DW and is sourcing the drum component rather than a toner cartridge, the model reference and one-pack format make it easier to select the intended part.

The choice comes down to the component you need: a drum-only replacement addresses the drum, while a toner purchase is the relevant route when toner is what needs replenishing. Keeping those roles separate helps you order the right type of supply for your maintenance task.

When it makes sense

It makes sense if you use one of the compatible Brother models and are shopping specifically for a DR420-family drum unit. The up-to-12,000-page stated yield gives you a clear reference point for planning replacement needs, while the single-unit pack keeps the order focused. For a home workspace or office using a listed laser printer, this is a practical way to source the drum component without confusing it with toner.
