Tropican 80555 Alternative Formula Parrot Food Granules, 4 mm, 4 lb
Product description
When choosing parrot food, the priority may be a familiar staple or a recipe built around alternative protein sources. Tropican Alternative Formula is an adult extruded food made with peas and quinoa, offering a distinct option for parrots whose diet calls for a lower-protein, lower-fat formula than Tropican High Performance.
The 4 mm granules are recommended for Caiques, Pionus, Macaws, Cockatoos and African Greys. Their consistent format makes them straightforward to serve as part of a regular feeding routine.
Looking for a recipe that avoids soy and corn while bringing several nutrient sources together? This formula combines plant-based proteins with omega 3 and 6 and beta-carotene.
What you’ll notice day to day
The granules are designed for adult parrots, including senior birds and birds described as diet-challenged. Peas and quinoa provide the alternative protein sources, alongside wheat and rice proteins in the formula. Tropican also includes vitamins and minerals, so the product description says an additional vitamin supplement is not needed.
Bentonite clay is included, and the recipe is described as having higher amounts of it for digestive health. Natural antioxidants, omega 3 and 6, and beta-carotene round out the formula. It contains no soy or corn and no artificial preservatives, colours or flavours. For daily feeding, the extruded granule format offers a practical alternative to a seed-based approach, with the ingredients incorporated into each piece rather than served as a loose mix.
Customer feedback commonly highlights birds’ enjoyment of the food, including reports of Quaker parrots eating it readily. These are individual experiences, while bird preferences can vary.
