Skullcandy S4PFW-T740 Push 540 Open Earbuds, Bluetooth 5.3, IP44

The open-ear format lets you listen while staying aware of nearby people and traffic. Ergonomic over-ear hooks help keep the earbuds in place as you move. A detachable magnetic neckband adds a practical way to secure them around your neck between listening sessions. They’re designed for workouts, runs, rides and everyday listening.

Fit and sizing

The Push 540 Open sits just outside the ear canal, so you can hear your audio without shutting out the sounds around you. That can be useful on an outdoor run, during a ride or while moving through a busy gym where awareness matters. Over-ear hooks provide a secure fit for active use, and the magnetic neckband offers an extra point of security. When you take the earbuds off, they can hang around your neck until you’re ready to listen again.

There’s no sizing selection to navigate: the fit comes from the earbud shape and hooks. For a workday that moves between a call, a walk and a workout, the open-ear design makes it easy to keep listening without repeatedly removing and replacing a bud. Bluetooth connectivity also supports use with cell phones, laptops and smart watches.

Pros

Battery life is rated at up to 42 hours in total: up to 10 hours from the earbuds, with an additional 32 hours from the charging case. When time is short, a 10-minute Rapid Charge provides up to two hours of listening. That combination is useful for keeping music or calls going across a busy day, with less need to plan around charging.

The earbuds have an IP44 rating for sweat, dust and water resistance, making them suited to exercise and outdoor routines. A 12 mm dynamic driver delivers the audio, and the Skullcandy App lets you adjust the five-band EQ, choose from three presets, configure button settings and disable touch controls. Buyers praise the sound, while feedback on fit, comfort, connectivity and sports use is mixed. Some also report reliability problems, including earbuds that stopped working or charging after a few months, so buyer experiences vary.

Compared with conventional in-ear earbuds that sit inside the ear canal, this open-ear design prioritizes awareness of your surroundings. That’s a meaningful distinction for outdoor activities and shared spaces, while the hooks and removable neckband are practical additions for movement.
