EDISHINE Outdoor Ceiling Fan 42-inch

For a covered patio, porch or pergola that gets stuffy on warm days, a plug-in fan can be simpler to place than a hardwired ceiling fixture. This EDISHINE outdoor ceiling fan combines airflow with a built-in light, and its remote and app controls let you adjust both without reaching up to the unit. The 42-inch size and hanging format make it worth considering for a gazebo or another sheltered outdoor living area. Its IP66 rating is listed for water protection, but the product is still described for covered spaces, so it should not be treated as a cue to install it anywhere outdoors.

Key specifications

The fan has five wood blades, six speed settings and a stated maximum airflow of 4,800 CFM in the product name. There is a discrepancy in the supplied details: the description also claims up to 5,200 CFM. Since those figures do not match, treat the exact maximum airflow as unclear rather than relying on the higher figure when sizing the fan for a space.

The integrated light is listed at up to 2,500 lumens, with a 3,000K–5,000K colour-temperature range and stepless dimming from 5% to 100%. A one-touch night-light mode is also mentioned. The fan uses a DC motor and has reversible airflow, which gives it a stated cooling role in summer and an air-circulation role in winter. The 16.5 ft power cord offers some flexibility for hanging placement, although the available outlet and cord route will still shape where it can go.

Who it’s for

It’s a good fit if you want to combine overhead airflow and lighting in a covered outdoor area, and prefer changing settings by remote or app. For example, you could use a lower fan speed while eating outside, then brighten the light and increase airflow when the patio is busier. Six speeds and adjustable brightness provide more control than a basic fan with a single setting, while the reversible direction adds another use beyond summer cooling.

It may not be the best fit if you need a hardwired fixture, have no suitable power outlet nearby, or need a confirmed airflow figure before choosing a fan for a large area. The listing does not provide installation dimensions beyond the 42-inch size, so make sure the hanging space and cord reach work for your setup.

Everyday use

In practice, the useful distinction is between a fixed outdoor light and a fan-light you can adjust as the space changes. This model offers app and remote control for fan speed, airflow direction and light brightness, plus a broad stated colour-temperature range. That flexibility may suit a covered sitting area used at different times of day. By contrast, a simpler light-only fixture makes more sense if airflow is not a priority, a buyer with exact coverage needs may prefer a product with consistent, clearly stated airflow information.

Before you decide

Can the light be dimmed? Yes. The listing specifies stepless dimming from 5% to 100%, along with a one-touch night-light mode.

Can you control it without the app? Yes. A remote is included, and the product also supports smart app control.

Is the airflow specification consistent? No. The product name states 4,800 CFM, while the description gives a maximum of 5,200 CFM. The supplied information does not resolve that difference.

Final verdict

Choose this EDISHINE if the combination of a 42-inch fan, adjustable light, plug-in cord and remote or app control suits a covered patio or pergola. The IP66 rating and reversible airflow add useful context, but the conflicting airflow figures are a real drawback if performance capacity is central to your decision. For a straightforward outdoor setup where flexible controls matter more than a precisely confirmed CFM rating, it has a clear use case, for an exposed location or a project that depends on exact airflow coverage, the available details leave important questions open.
