AUSCAT MWJ-FY Flappy Fish Cat Toy, Rechargeable with Catnip and Motion Sensor

Usage tips

For indoor cats who need an engaging way to play, the AUSCAT Flappy Fish responds when tapped: its built-in motion sensor triggers flapping movement and a sound to encourage batting and pouncing. The fish stays on the ground when used as a standalone toy, it does not fly. For a different play setup, use the included hook and elastic rope to suspend it, so your cat can reach and swat at it.

Start with the fish switched off if your cat prefers to explore new toys at their own pace. The soft plush body and pre-installed catnip pouch offer a familiar way to introduce it before switching on the movement. Use the pouch provided rather than loose catnip inside the fish, which can damage the mechanism.

Strengths

Three flapping modes add variety to play. After activation, the toy moves for about 17 seconds and then enters a short sleep mode, subsequent activations cycle to another mode. It also goes to sleep after a period without interaction to save energy. This tap-to-activate format makes it useful for short bursts of independent play, while the hook and elastic rope offer another way to invite interaction.

The rechargeable battery charges via the included USB cable. A full charge takes about one hour and provides 280 movement cycles. A green LED indicates that charging is complete. Before play, charge the toy and switch it to ON.

The catnip pouch adds scent-based interest alongside movement and sound. The plush-and-feather construction gives cats different textures to paw at, and the mechanism can be detached so the plush body can be wiped clean. Choose this moving fish when your cat benefits from a toy that reacts to touch, a simple plush toy is better suited to play without powered movement or sound.

Before you decide

Does the fish fly? No. It flaps in place when used on the floor. The included hook and elastic rope let you hang it for swatting play, but the toy is not a flying toy.

How does the motion sensor work? Tap the toy to activate its flapping movement and sound. It runs for about 17 seconds before a short sleep mode, and the flapping mode changes with subsequent activations.

How should I clean it? Detach the mechanism from the plush body, then wipe the body clean. Keep loose catnip out of the fish, use the provided pouch instead.

Final verdict

For indoor cats drawn to movement, sound and catnip, the AUSCAT Flappy Fish combines touch-activated play with three flapping modes and a rechargeable design. It works for floor-level batting or suspended swatting, giving you two practical ways to bring interactive play into your cat’s routine.
