YAWV US-YA-PS-1 Cordless Pruning Shears for DeWalt 20V, SK5 Blades

Manual pruning suits occasional, hands-on trimming, while powered shears can make repeated garden cuts easier to manage. The YAWV US-YA-PS-1 is a cordless option with a brushless motor, SK5 steel blades, and two cutting diameter settings for branches within its stated range. It works with compatible DeWalt 20V batteries, making it a practical fit for gardeners who already use that battery platform.

An LCD display counter helps track cutting activity as you work through garden, orchard, or vineyard pruning.

Fit and sizing

The two cutting diameter settings cover 0.8-inch and 1.2-inch cuts, also listed as 20 mm and 30 mm. Select the setting that suits the branch within that range. This makes the shears useful for routine trimming across garden plants, grape vines, and fruit trees, with the larger setting available for thicker branches.

The tool is designed for DeWalt 20V MAX batteries, including the listed DCB200, DCB201, DCB203, DCB204, DCB205, DCB206, DCB230, DCB240, DCB246, DCB248, and DCBP520 models. The battery is not included, so operation requires a compatible battery.

What stands out

A brushless motor and SK5 high-carbon steel blades are central to the cutting setup. The manufacturer lists a maximum speed of 26,000 RPM and a trimming speed of 0.5 seconds. The two diameter settings let you match the cut to the branch size, while the LCD counter provides a visible way to keep track of your work.

At 1.6 pounds, the shears are a portable handheld tool for moving around a yard, farm, or orchard. Buyers commonly praise ease of use and cutting performance, including for grape vine pruning. Feedback on battery life and durability is mixed, so experiences with those aspects vary.

For safe operation, switch on the tool and pull the trigger twice quickly to activate it. Keep fingers clear of the blades, and use the shears for branches rather than hard materials such as iron. The automatic shutoff activates after 120 seconds without use, restart the tool to continue.
