uniball Gel Pens, 207 Plus+

If you want one pen for everyday notes, a standard ballpoint may be enough. If you’d rather add color and a smoother gel-ink feel to the page, this six-count uniball 207 Plus+ set takes a different approach.

Each pen has a retractable design and a 0.7mm medium point. The assorted inks make the pack useful for separating notes without carrying a collection of individual pens.

There is a tradeoff: the colors are assorted, but the specific shades aren’t listed here. That matters if you need a particular color for a system you already use.

Where it shines

The medium point is aimed at clear, everyday writing: meeting notes, journal entries, lists, and labels where you want lines that stand out. For example, you could use one color for action items and another for dates in a planner, then retract the pens before slipping them into a bag. The metal clip also gives you a way to attach one to a notebook or folder.

The gel ink is described as fast-drying and smear-resistant, which may be helpful when you’re moving quickly between lines or adding notes to a page. The maker also says the ink can write on glossy paper. Those features make this more purpose-built for colorful, visible notes than a basic pen chosen only to get words onto paper.

What matters most

The 0.7mm tip favors legible writing over very fine detail. It should suit ordinary handwriting and quick annotations, but it isn’t the obvious choice for tiny lettering or intricate drawing. A soft comfort grip is intended to support control during longer writing sessions, whether that shape feels comfortable is personal, and no grip dimensions are provided.

The ink’s protection claims need a measured reading. According to the maker, uni Super Ink Plus+ bonds with paper to help protect writing against check washing, water, fading, and document alteration. “Help protect” is not a guarantee that writing will be permanent in every situation, so don’t choose these as a substitute for a specific archival or document-handling requirement.

Best use cases

This set makes the most sense for school, office, journaling, and organizing handwritten notes when you want several ink colors in retractable pens. It’s a great fit if you regularly mark up pages and prefer a medium line that is easy to read. The assorted pack is less useful if your system depends on a named shade or you want to choose every color yourself.

Compared with buying a single-color pen for straightforward writing, this pack puts more emphasis on visual organization and a gel-ink writing feel. The practical upside is having colors ready for a planner or a stack of meeting notes, the limitation is that the listed details don’t identify which colors are included. If shade matching matters, that uncertainty could outweigh the convenience of a mixed set.

Should you buy it?

Choose the 207 Plus+ if you want retractable gel pens for everyday writing, appreciate assorted ink, and have a use for a medium point. The combination of a soft grip, metal clip, and ink described as quick-drying gives the set a clear role for notes on the go. Better avoided if you need a specific ink shade, a very fine point, or a stated guarantee of document permanence, those needs call for a more precisely specified pen.
