Sweese Double-Walled Glass Coffee Mugs 12.5 oz

A hot coffee can be awkward to hold when the mug gets warm, while an opaque cup hides the layers of a latte. Sweese’s double-walled borosilicate glass mugs are designed to keep the outside cooler to the touch and let the drink show through, making them useful for everyday coffee, tea, and espresso.

The set includes four clear mugs, each with a stated capacity of 12.5 ounces to the rim.

Where it shines

The appeal is both practical and visual. Two layers of glass create a suspended-drink effect, so a latte, mocha, or cup of tea becomes part of the table setting rather than disappearing behind ceramic. That can be especially nice when serving guests or making a slower morning coffee feel a little more considered. The clear sides also make it easy to see the drink’s color and layers as you pour.

The mugs are made from mouth-blown, lead-free borosilicate glass. The product description says the double-wall design helps drinks stay hotter or colder than in standard single-wall glass or ceramic mugs, while the outside stays cool to the touch. That’s the main functional reason to choose this style over a conventional cup—not just the floating-drink look. You’ll appreciate it if you like seeing a layered latte and want a mug that feels less hot on the outside during use.

What matters most

The 12.5-ounce capacity is measured to the rim on the spec sheet, so it’s a maximum rather than a practical fill line. Think about how much room you need for a drink and any additions before choosing these over a smaller espresso cup. They’re described as suitable for espresso, tea, coffee, lattes, and mochas, and sized to pair with espresso machines or coffee makers, no specific machine compatibility is listed.

A small, sealed round opening on the bottom is intended to let the glass breathe as temperatures change. The description says the seal keeps water out and the design helps prevent the mugs from bursting during use. As with glassware generally, the trade-off is that these transparent, delicate-looking cups call for more care than a sturdy everyday ceramic mug. If you prioritize a visible drink and a double-wall feel, this set has a clear purpose, if you prefer an opaque cup built for a less careful routine, a basic ceramic mug may suit you better.

Care & maintenance

These mugs are listed as dishwasher- and microwave-safe, which makes them easier to work into a regular coffee routine than glassware that requires handwashing. For example, you can pour a latte, set it on the table to show its layers, then place the cup in the dishwasher after breakfast. The product information does not specify dimensions, weight, or handling instructions, so those details may matter if storage space or a particular feel in the hand is important to you.

Final verdict

Sweese’s set of four makes the most sense for someone who wants clear, double-walled mugs for coffee and tea, values the visual presentation, and will treat glassware with reasonable care. The 12.5-ounce-to-the-rim capacity offers room for more than a straight espresso, but it may be more cup than you want for a small serving. It’s not for you if your priority is an opaque, robust mug over seeing the drink or having a double-wall design. For a home coffee routine where appearance and a cooler-feeling exterior matter, the combination of four cups, borosilicate glass, and dishwasher- and microwave-safe use is the practical case for choosing this set.
