Sony Portable Bluetooth Speaker IP67

What matters most

If you want a speaker that can move from a kitchen counter to a picnic blanket, portability and protection may matter more than building a full stereo setup. The Sony ULT Field 1 is designed around that kind of grab-and-go use, with a detachable multi-way strap and an IP67 rating for waterproof, dustproof, shockproof, and rustproof protection.

Its ULT button boosts the bass, while Sony’s sound diffusion processor uses DSP technology to spread sound through a space. There’s also a built-in microphone with echo cancellation for hands-free calls, so it can do more than play music.

Keep in mind that stereo playback requires an additional speaker. If you want left and right channels from the start, a single-unit setup won’t provide that on its own.

Best use cases

This compact speaker is suited to casual listening when you’re moving around: hanging it from its strap near a picnic spot, carrying it from room to room, or keeping music nearby while you handle outdoor tasks. Its protection features make it more suitable for dusty or wet settings than a speaker meant only for a dry shelf, though an IP67 rating is not a reason to treat any electronic device carelessly.

The battery is rated for up to 12 hours, which gives you room for a long stretch of listening without making a charging cable the focus of the outing. Actual runtime can vary with use, and the product details don’t specify a playback volume or conditions for that maximum.

It makes sense if you want one portable speaker with bass boost, hands-free calling, and a carry strap. It might not be a great match if your priority is stereo sound from one device or you need a stated battery runtime under your specific listening conditions.

Tips for day-to-day use

Use the detachable strap when you want to carry the speaker or keep it within reach, and press the ULT button when you want the bass boost. For a call, the built-in microphone and echo-canceling technology are there to support hands-free use, you can leave your phone nearby rather than holding it throughout the conversation.

For a wider stereo presentation, plan on adding another compatible speaker as described in the product details. That’s a different buying approach from choosing a single speaker for simple, portable playback: it can suit listeners who want stereo, but it means buying and setting up an extra unit. The listing gives no further pairing details, so don’t assume more specific setup options.

Questions before you buy

Is the Sony ULT Field 1 designed for outdoor use? Its IP67 rating covers waterproof, dustproof, shockproof, and rustproof protection, and its strap is intended to make carrying easier. Those features suit outings, but they don’t remove the need for sensible care around electronics.

Can it play in stereo by itself? The product details say to add an extra speaker for stereo sound. If you want stereo without adding another unit, this setup may not meet that need.

Can I use it for hands-free calls? Yes. It has a built-in microphone with echo-canceling technology for calls.

Buying verdict

The ULT Field 1 is most compelling for someone who wants a portable, protected speaker with a bass-boost button and a strap, rather than a more involved listening setup. Its up-to-12-hour battery rating and call microphone add everyday flexibility. Choose it when easy carrying and protection are central to how you’ll use a speaker, look elsewhere if stereo from a single unit or more specific battery-performance information is essential.
